Clover is a three-year-old, cute little female dog that weighs about 12 lbs. We rescued Clover from the Hesperia Animal Shelter as an “over the counter stray” which means essentially, the owner could have turned her in, in order to avoid the owner surrender fee, but say he found her. We will never know if she was truly a stray found by a Good Samaritan, or an owner turned in, but if she was owner turned in, it explains a lot since these dogs often become anxious for being abandoned at shelters by their owners. We had Clover DNA tested. She is a Dachshund/Boston Terrier/Parson Russell Terrier (Jack Russell). She is white and black but due to the white coloring within her face, the spurts of white come off as gray so this gives the appearance of her being older, but she is young. Her teeth and eyes (ocular changes occur after the age of 5) are those of a younger dog. Shelter vets are not always right with ages, but as a skilled rescuer, to be on the safe side, I would say she is in the range of 3-5, no more. We marked Clover as URGENT because the rescue is unable to keep her, and she needs to have a home of her own. We have had her now about two months and are just now posting her because she is an inherently fearful and anxious dog of the world around her and also about separation, but she is not aggressive in the least. All of her fears are manifested in submissive and scared mannerisms. Oftentimes, we, in rescue, hear that “dogs were abused” but the truth is many are not. But we do believe that Clover was either abused or treated very meanly. Sometimes, she still screams when we pick her up. Clover is a sweet dog that does wag her tail and wants to belong to someone and wants to be loved. She wants consistency and safety, and sadly, her foster mom travels a lot so Clover has to keep going to boarding. We had a volunteer take her for the photos and the videos, and the videos showing her being petted are the volunteer’s retired father. We have tried one anti-anxiety medication, Trazadone, and it just seemed to make her worse. As we continue to have Clover, we will continue to try our best, but she does need a home of her own, where loving and patient people will be willing to continue to work with her and help to guide her in the ways of a good life. Clover loves food so she never objects to eating her meal, and she loves treats, so this is a great incentive for working with her! Clover does show some promise. In the video, you see how she was when first walking on the leash, and then, as the video goes on, she gets better. She seems to walk better using the harness, and it works best to just keep the harness on her for convenience. She will always be a dog that is constantly leaving her pet bed within the home to make sure you are still there and then when she sees you, will can go back to her safe spot. She is fine with other dogs but is initially afraid of some dogs. With some dogs, she derives comfort; other dogs, not. I would say that Clover falls within the category of “companion dog.” We are looking for someone who is willing to help this little girl to overcome some of her fears and anxieties, but she may always have this at the core to some degree. She is crate-trained but hates the crate and it just causes her to whine and whine. When the foster mom leaves, it is just best to leave her loose inside the house, with no outdoor/yard access to find a way out. Clover is quite potty-trained and past one initial accident, had no more. She sleeps loose on a pet bed on the floor or on the human bed, which is her favorite spot to be with you (she jumps right up!). Now, does the foster mom leave? Yes, of course. But she is in and out during the day and found that it is best to leave Clover loose with her other two dogs, and not crated, but still within the confines of the house. (We have left Clover crated at first, just to make sure there was no panic or destruction, but for short periods, but once she gets more comfortable in a home, it is best to leave her loose.) So yes, she is crate-trained, just does not really like it. We are not sure if we are going to be able to find a kind person(s) who will be willing to work with Clover, and offer her a home, but we are truly hoping that we CAN find some compassionate person who understands that not all rescue dogs are perfect and amazing and some have had misfortunes and need some additional help and support. Is there someone out there who will help her? The best fit for Clover is a quiet, stable household with people that are kind, patient, and are willing to work with a dog that at times will be challenging. Another dog is fine if the fit is good. Retired folks would be ideal, or people who are not gone from home for long, extended hours on a daily basis. Clover has been good when we need to take her to a boarding facility. In fact, she was also fine at the shelter, originally. It is just that when she is in a regular home, she becomes overly focused on wanting to belong, wanting to be loved, and where you are. Clover is spayed, fully vaccinated, Front-lined, dewormed, and micro-chipped. If you are interested in Clover, email Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue at: adopt@angelsheartdogrescue.com. In the email, please provide some information about your home, family, other pets, and your dog experience. Please also check your spam folder for an email reply from the rescue. If you wish, please also provide a phone number. Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue is a private, home-based rescue. We seek stable homes that can provide a loving environment for the dogs in our care. There is an application process that precedes meeting a dog (applications are not online). The phone number to the rescue is: 626-340-9316. There is no need to phone the rescue unless you do not receive a response from your email within 24 hours (evening to night emails may get a response the following morning). Dani is a courtesy post for Dawg Squad Rescue. If you are interested in Dani, please contact Dawgsquad@rocketmail.com Hi there! You may recognize me. I was in Dawg Squad about 3 years ago and yes….sadly…I am back. You see, my person fell on some hard times and he couldn’t keep me anymore. I’m not mad at him or anything…..just a little sad that we can’t live together. BUT my Dawg Squad fosters are cool I love doing normal dog things. I especially like hanging out with Josel down at Burton Chase Park. I’m his “eye candy” when he’s doing a photo shoot. Yup…..people see me and think I’m adorable….then they think he must be awesome to have such an awesome dog with him. Win/win right? Why don’t you fill out an application and WE can get together? Maybe for a snack or something?

He has a large white chest and perky ears; he's darling. Bruno is a mature adult dog at 9 years old. When Bruno was a young puppy he lived at Downtown Dog Rescue when it was just a parking lot and a couple volunteers. He was a very happy dog who was quickly adopted. Sadly, his owner passed away and he is back at our kennel. A little older and wiser, he is again looking for a home. He needs a simple life with someone to love who will give him some snuggles, short walks and a super soft bed. He is a very sweet boy who will be easy to manage. He does not mind other dogs but prefers to have his human all to himself! He would do well in most homes with no small children or other pets. Bruno lived with a dog sibling most his life, but now that he is older he wants to relax and be the only dog. We cannot blame him! Meet the stunning looking Morty, who we call Morty-Snorty as he snorts a lot. He walks perfectly on leash and is the type dog you can walk in any metropolitan areas and he is quiet and calm. Morty is 7 years old and weighs 52 pounds, is low to the ground, and is in great shape. He is the type that is not cuddly unless he knows his person very well. He can get very unsure if people push him to pet and hug so is best suited in a one person household that is a low stress environment as a companion dog. He is good with dogs but does not care that much about them, and would be just fine and content as the only dog. He loves to go for walks and tag along for car rides and is a dog that needs a laid back, easy-going lifestyle and hanging out with his person. SEE VIDEO ALSO ON THIS PAGE! Princess Daisy is a young adult Pit Bull who we rescued from South L.A. Shelter when she was 4 months of age. She would do best in a house with a yard as the only dog where she can exercise running around, lay in the sun and relaxing, and hang out with her owner and live an easy life! She must be a companion dog to the humans, both indoors and out. At seven years old she weighs 75 pounds and is fully grown. Princess Daisy is a beautiful dog with perfect eyeliner just like a Geisha! She is very calm and affectionate in the house and loves to lay by your feet and relax and is happy to greet every person that comes around, but will get anxious walking on leash on busy streets with people running/jogging, bicycles and skateboards coming towards her. Princess Daisy needs a confident and patient owner who will continue to work with her being out and about in the big world if that is desired, HOWEVER she would be very happy to be a “house dog” and live an easy life with you in and out of the house and go for car rides which is one of her favorite things to do, and most of all, being close to her person and getting tummy rubs! Are you a person that would enjoy giving this girl a chance to have a great life? She would love to be your one and only and she will be the most loyal and loving friend you will ever have! Princess Daisy is crate-trained, house-broken, spayed, microchipped and has had all shots including rabies and is a very healthy dog.
