SOUTH LA SHELTER RESCUE ME SPOTLIGHT: CRITICAL!!! : Readin’ Writin’ ‘Rithmetic Rhoda Choc chip staffie A1171241 South L.A.

READIN’, WRITIN’, ‘RITHMETIC RHODA WAS ON HER WAY TO THE LOCAL PREP SCHOOL ONE DAY

WHEN SOMEONE THERE DECIDED SHE COULDN’T ATTEND CLASSES WITH ALL THE KIDS — AND BROUGHT HER TO THE SHELTER INSTEAD — SHE’S SAD ABOUT THAT

RHODA WANTS AN EDUCATION. HOWEVER, WHILE SHE IS WAITING FOR CLASSES TO START AGAIN, SHE’S LOVING EVERYONE AT SOUTH L.A. — watch that wagging tail — and see her sneaking a kiss with the GS across the way.
YOUTUBE VIDEO OF RHODA
THOUGH HER OWNER TRIED TO MAKE HER LOOK TOUGH, RHODA IS A TOTAL CREAMPUFF

Rhoda (A1171241, 2 years old and a stocky 60 pounds) is as sweet as they come. Those soft brown eyes beg for your attention. She was a happy girl, no cares in the world — until she strayed into the prep school. This girl who wants only to learn and love now she has some serious cares — being at the shelter and picking up a nasty case of URI. Rhoda needs out right away!!! She is on her second antibiotic and has been moved to ISO. Along with her scholarly studies, Rhoda has a great fondness for other dogs — she goes so far as to steal kisses in the hallway. Please help this pupil get her diploma — call the South L.A. shelter at (213) 485-0117 or -0119 to save her. And KINDLY LET US KNOW if you do save her — as many people ask about the fate of these dogs. With thanks, Andrea & Mindy ivegonetothedogs@gmail.com (323) 363-4909

SOUTH LA DOG SPOTLIGHT: PRONOUNCED DEAD SAT. SCHEDULED TO DIE YESTERDAY. WANTS TO LIVE TODAY. 10-year-old super sweet GS A1168948 South L.A.

PRONOUNCED DEAD ON SATURDAY

SCHEDULED TO DIE YESTERDAY. “WHO ME? NO!!!!!!!!”

WANTS TO LIVE AND BE LOVED EVERY DAY

Watch Chewy’s video and see this gentle but camera-shy girl :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0LvlHwQZWk

I was at the shelter the day that Chewy (what a name — A1168948, 10 years old) was walked in by her owners who said she was “a good dog” but that they were moving. I was in the kennels shortly afterward, Chewy standing in her cage alone, puzzled at the bars surrounding her. And I was there the day that a Community Service worker found her, upside down, legs in the air, eyes open — and pronounced her dead. Lucky for Chewy that this was a mistake!!!! Chewy just sleeps on her back with her legs in the air, propped up against the kennel walls — she prefers it that way. As an older dog with an older hematoma to her ear (and now an ear infection as well! — but on antibiotics, no surgery necessary) and no one clamoring to take her home, Chewy was scheduled to be euthanized yesterday. But, Chewy has no intention of dying.

She’s bouncy on her walks, she’s loving with people, and she even enjoys sharing a space with her new kennel mate. She’s a good-natured, huggable hunk of fluff — a sugary sweetheart who shouldn’t have to be pronounced dead in the shelter. She’s thankful that she is making it to Thanksgiving — but will be even more thankful if you will take her home and let her live happily ever after — and sleep upside down.

Please, please have compassion
for these older dogs.

Call the South L.A. shelter at (213) 485-0117 or (213) 485-0119.
And kindly let us know that she is showing you that beautiful smile.
With thanks,

SOUTH LA SHELTER RESCUE ME SPOTLIGHT: VERY IMPORTANT : Bekins will move you – 8 mo emaciated puppy A1153415 South L.A.

LET BEKINS MOVE YOU

HE’LL WRAP YOU IN KISSES
Watch his video YOUTube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKm50EJUf3w

HE’LL GENTLY TAPE HIMSELF ONTO YOUR LAP

BEKINS’ DRIVE WAS A BIT BUMPY INITIALLY — POOR NUTRITION AND PERHAPS AN INCIDENT WITH A CAR?

BUT HE’S WAITING TO JOIN YOU IN THE DIAMOND LANE NOW

Bekins (A1153415, only 8 months old !!!!! ) came in scrawny as can be — only a “2” on the weight scale. He was put into ISO to ensure extra feedings and needs out of the shelter very, very soon as those spaces are in high demand, sadly. Bekins is one of the sweetest pups at the shelter. Right now he’s a little vacuum, searching for all the scraps of food that might have fallen along his path. He absolutely adores everyone!!! Seems to be OK with other dogs as we have had him out in his ISO room, watched him nose to nose with others that barked and growled at him — no reaction — and even saw him go up to a cat in a cage on the floor in Receiving — then walk away unfazed (of course, this is not a definitive test!). Please won’t you consider letting Bekins move you too?

Call the South L.A. shelter at (213) 485-0117 or -0119.
And kindly let us know that he is packing and leaving the shelter with you.
Many thanks,
Andrea & Mindy

South LA Shelter Rescue Me Spotlight: VERY IMPORTANT : No more BMW’s for Valerie – smiling staffie adopted as puppy A1089273 South L.A.

NO MORE BMW’S FOR VALERIE

IT LOOKED LIKE LIFE WOULD BE SWEET, DRIVING AWAY FROM THE
SHELTER AS A PUPPY IN A FANCY CAR — NOT SO.

BUT, VALERIE IS STILL SMILING — AND ALWAYS SMILNG. Just watch this video — and besides smiling, she knows how to shake with both front feet!

YOUTube Video

Valerie (A1089273, 1 year, 4 months, was returned to the shelter on 9/11 because her people were moving!!! — or so they said) is one of the happiest dogs at South L.A. Nothing makes her sad — not even her people who drove away in their BMW with her back in 2009, puppy Valerie in tow, then claimed they couldn’t afford the Clavamox for Valerie’s URI !!! And they never got her fixed either!!!! What losers. Then, a year later, brought her back with flea allergies that have affected her hair. Much better to be driving away in a regular ol’ Toyota or even a Smart Car!!! and to be treated with love than to be adopted by someone who can’t seem to give you what you need. Valerie is currently in ISO but she has been out with other dogs and done perfectly fine!!! She loves everyone!!!!!!!! This is one wonderful girl who is not impressed by money — just by love. If you can find a spot in your heart and your car for Valerie, please come quickly to claim her. She doesn’t have long. Call (213) 485-0117 or -0119. And please let us know that she is finally being cared for.

SOUTH LA SHELTER RESCUE ME SPOTLIGHT: PLEASE SAVE HER – SHE DID SO MUCH FOR SO MANY : Chastity the Deca-Mom A1147605

 CHASTITY, THE DECA-MOM
OK, SO SHE DIDN’T LIVE UP TO HER NAME — BUT SHE DID SO MUCH FOR SO MANY
NOW WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING FOR HER. Look at this before and after girl — watch her video, taking treats from Tomika, rolling over on her back for tummy rubs — she is utter, total joy — don’t let that spirit die :
SO SHY AND SAD AFTER LOSING HER PUPS — NOW CAREFREE, SWEET, AND DELIGHTFUL
YOUTube Video

Chastity (A1147605, 2 years old) came into the shelter with TEN puppies. The poor girl was drained and emaciated and put into ISO to recover. Needless to say, all of her cute puppies were adopted — while Chastity remained behind bars. When we first had her out, she was cautious and nervous. But, once she realized she was actually in a good place — the shelter gave her a chance to smile and thrive. Well, Chastity has lost her inhibitions once again — but she will be spayed this time!!! She is an absolute LOVER!!!!! (well, I guess so, judging from her past.)
She has been fine around other dogs her size (we’ve been out for walks together — haven’t had her around small dogs yet) and she’s happy as can be. Chastity adores people, she relishes treats, and she has every intention of bringing a smile to the face of any and all who see her once out of the shelter.
Can you give this Deca-Mom […]

SOUTH LA SHELTER RESCUE ME SPOTLIGHT:”Remarkable” Charismatic Coco A1145633 – 11 mo old Bull Terrier mix South L.A.

SHE’S UTTERLY REMARKABLE
Watch her video and see what an amazing dog she is!!!

YOUTUBE VIDEO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCsESQspGMU

EVERYONE WHO MEETS HER SWOONS

SHE PROMISES TO BE YOUR VERY BEST FRIEND FOR LIFE.

Coco (A1145633, 11 months old, needs out now!!!) is charismatic!!! She’s magnetic!!! At our mobile event last week she drew everyone to her. Men, women, toddlers. She would lay across their feet, plop herself in their lap, cuddle in their arms. Her kisses are scrumptious and better than a cup of cocoa at bedtime. She’s soothing and she’s sweet. Coco has been kenneled with other dogs and done fine — generally the submissive one in the bunch. However, she does seem to have her favorites and can be choosy upon occasion. When she first came into the shelter, Coco was terrified but she has learned to trust her friends and can be the most playful girl around. Her young life is in serious danger now.

Please consider making her your best friend and lap-warmer.
Call the South L.A. shelter at (213) 485-0117 or -0119.

And kindly let us know so that we can spread the good news.
Thanks so much, Andrea & Mindy

SOUTH LA SHELTER RESCUE ME SPOTLIGHT: Giant Teddy Bears (mom and son) need out — Chow time A1149450 & A1149452 South L.A.

THE SWEETEST PAIR OF GIANT, GENTLE TEDDY BEARS

MOMMA MALINA AND HER SON MIKEY

DIVIDED AND DEPRESSED. LOST THEIR HOME — THEN THEY LOST EACH OTHER. SADLY SEPARATED AT THE SHELTER. I wish we had captured their reunion, spotting each other down the hallway, tails starting to wag ever so slightly. And when they approached each other, the kisses between them brought us all to tears. What a precious pair!!!!! Watch their video and see how they can’t be separated for more than a few moments. Look at them take treats with the manners of a royal couple.

YOUTUBE VIDEO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1IFRBIEulI

PLEASE HELP BRING THE SMILES BACK

TO THESE TWO TEDDY BEARS.

Momma Malina (A1149450, 6 years old) and her son Mikey (A1149452, 2 years old, now on meds for URI), both a bit shy initially, are recovering from the shock of being left behind at the shelter. It’s a cruel fate for two tender dogs who had always been together. Yet these two have the quiet composure and subtle demeanor that has allowed them to interact with new dogs and new people — and both have scored 100%!!! Momma Malina will now come up to the front of her kennel when we approach — and Mikey never fails to give us his great big grin!!! We’ve had them out a few times and they have been polite, courteous and oh-so-huggable!!!!! What joy they promise to bring to their new guardian.

If you can help save their lives, please call the South L.A. shelter at once (213) 485-0117 or (213) 485 -0119. And kindly let us know that they are looking up at you with hope for the future. Many thanks, Andrea & Mindy ivegonetothedogs@gmail.com (323) 363-4909

SOUTH LA SHELTER RESCUE ME SPOTLIGHT:EXTREMELY URGENT : Peekaboo – innocent puppy neglected and abused 5 mos. old A1140648 South L.A.

PEEKABOO — WE SEE YOU

PLEASE DON’T HIDE FROM US — WE WANT TO HELP (watch gentle Peekaboo, innocent and trusting, kissing and hoping for someone to care — and promise her she’ll never see any more abuse — paste this video in your browser 🙂

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lo_2CsjX-Oc

PEEKABOO SAYS ” REALLY, YOU DO?” AND SMILES FOR THE FIRST TIME.

Peekaboo

(A1140648, just 5 months old, on medical alert and needs out NOW!!!) was originally brought into the shelter with her two sisters back in early August. The girls were all adopted — Peekaboo into a home that kept her for about 3 weeks, then returned her to the shelter, claiming they had “no home”. Somehow, these people failed to mention that they were dumping this precious puppy with a fracture of her femoral head, leaving her limping and horribly depressed. Forget that now — together we must save Peekaboo’s life, get her the surgery she needs, and prove to her that there are those she can trust, those who will laugh at her antics, and those who will protect and cherish her for the rest of her life.

If you want to be the one to play hide-and-seek with Peekaboo, please call the South L.A. shelter at (213) 485-0117 or (213) 485 -0119. And if you would like to pledge funds towards a qualified rescue who can get Peekaboo the surgery she needs, please let us know.
