Thank you! Benson is a cute, endearing and warm lemon Beagle mix who was rescued from the San Bernardino City Shelter. He weighs about 16 lbs. and is about the age of two. Benson is a more timid dog; he is shy and a bit weary of you if he does not yet know you. However, I have never seen any aggression. He is just a dog that needs to feel safe first and can easily be won over with treats since (typical to any Beagle) he LOVES food! Once Benson becomes accustomed to his environment, he relaxes and becomes a silly goof at times, and will play and play with his tongue hanging off to the side which always makes me laugh, or will just calmly chill near me, which offers a quiet presence. Benson enjoys other dogs and also loves to be near the humans. He really enjoys playing with toys on his own or playing with the other playful dogs at the rescue. Overall, he is getting all of the rescue routines down pretty well and a plus is that he is not a marker either outside or inside the house. Benson is crate-trained and does excellently in his crate. He is quiet when it is time to be crated (dogs here at the rescue are crated to eat, sleep, and when folks are gone from home) and loves his little rawhide sticks at bedtime! He also LOVES food! Like most Beagles, he can sniff food out anywhere so it is best to keep all food up and away! He is a sensitive soul, so corrections do not need to be harsh or loud. Overall, Benson is just SWEET. He typically comes around throughout the day to check in with me, and rise up onto my legs to lean in for some petting and to remind me that he is still there. I truly believe that Benson will do best in a home that has another well-socialized, friendly and confident pup to welcome Benson into his new home. Please have another dog to inquire about Benson! Benson will benefit from a good canine role model to feel more secure with his new people. Cyrus is a good match to be adopted together with Benson, because they know each other, like each other, and play well together, but it is not my expectation, nor is it my requirement, that they be adopted together. Benson will need some time to adjust to a new setting, but the pay-off will be well worth it, as Benson has a special warmth and endearing nature that is very hard not to love (he is one of my favorite dogs!) NOTE: We only adopt dogs as primarily INDOOR dogs. Dogs can go outside to play, potty, to sun themselves at will, but should never be excluded to an outside area. You do not need to give a dog the run of the entire house, and an appropriate sized wire crate works very well during a transitional phase. Benson is neutered, fully vaccinated, Front-lined, dewormed, and micro-chipped. If you are interested in Benson, email Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue at: adopt@angelsheartdogrescue.com. In the email, please provide some information about your home, family, other pets, and your dog experience. Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue is a private, home-based rescue. We seek stable homes that can provide a loving environment for the dogs in our care. There is an application process that precedes meeting a dog (applications are not online). The phone number to the rescue is: 626-340-9316. There is no need to phone the rescue unless you do not receive a response from your email within 24 hours (evening to night emails will get a response the following morning). • Miniature Pinscher, Chihuahua

This is a courtesy listing for another rescue group. PLEASE READ ENTIRE BIO BEFORE CONTACTING RESCUE. SEE VIDEO ALSO ON THIS PAGE! To view video on Petfinder or Adopt-a-Pet, click on the video icon within Petfinder or Adopt-a-Pet. To view video otherwise, paste this link: https://youtu.be/kTsZQOikMdo in your address bar on top. Thank you! Allison is a great little upbeat female Miniature Pinscher mix (maybe she is mixed with Chihuahua?) that is ADORABLE and has beautiful markings in that her coat is tri-colored. She was rescued from the San Bernardino City Shelter and weighs between 8-9 lbs. She was marked as age two, but my experienced tells me that she closer to age one or one-and-a half (her teeth are pearly white). Allison is a confident, happy little girl that loves all people and is also fine with all other dogs. She is also very quiet. Her absolute FAVORITE THING is to sit out on the porch in the sun either on a pet bed, the bistro chair, or actually up on the bistro table (she can jump up!) She can also engage is some solid, good play with the other dogs in the pack! Occasionally, I have seen her playing with toys on her own. Allison has the personality and overall demeanor of being a great family dog; she readily approaches all people including kids. She is very versatile; sometimes, she is insisting on sitting on my lap (a lap dog), other times, she is on a pet bed chilling in the office while I work at the computer (either by herself, or sharing the pet bed with another dog); other times, she is independently sunning herself outside on the porch (the door to the house always stays open so that she can come back in anytime she wants). Allison is crate-trained and here at the rescue, dogs eat, sleep, and go in their crates when folks are gone from home. She has been very good in her crate. Allison also loves feeding time! She loves food and I even feed her in a slow bowl so that she does not wolf down her food down so fast! She had a couple of potty accidents when she was first rescued, but has since gotten the potty thing down here at my house with regular intervals of walking the pack out. At bed time, she loves her little rawhide sticks as a bedtime snack. Allison is very sweet, loving and affectionate. Sometimes, she gets into these moods where she is just trying to over-abundantly give me kisses. In these times, I have to tell her to stop and she eventually settles down. Other times, I am lying on my bed resting during the day and she is a bit squirmy and in my face lavishing me with kisses, but again, she can eventually settle and chill and be calm on the affection front. Allison is a very easy dog; she is easy to manage and does not have any concerning issues. The best fit for Allison’s placement seems to be a home with either another dog to be her friend and companion; or, as an only dog in the home where she will not have to be left alone for long stretches (same as with most dogs). Cyrus is a good match to be adopted together with Allison, because they know each other, like each other, and play well together, but it is not my expectation, nor is it my requirement, that they be adopted together. I think that Allison is a very versatile dog, but it would be nice if she at least had a small yard or patio to sun herself since it is her life’s joy. Allison also wears a sweatshirt in the winter as she tends to get cold. Allison is just one of those super cute, tiny, and easy to manage, little canine companions! NOTE: We only adopt dogs as primarily INDOOR dogs. Dogs can go outside to play, potty, to sun themselves at will, but should never be excluded to an outside area. You do not need to give a dog the run of the entire house, and an appropriate sized wire crate works very well during a transitional phase. • Schnauzer, Terrier
  • Spayed/Neutered
  • Up-to-date with routine shots
This is a courtesy listing for another rescue group. PLEASE READ ENTIRE BIO BEFORE CONTACTING RESCUE. SEE VIDEO ALSO ON THIS PAGE! To view video on Petfinder or Adopt-a-Pet, click on the video icon within Petfinder or Adopt-a-Pet. To view video otherwise, paste this link: https://youtu.be/14t4wGQtbLY in your address bar on top. Thank you! Cyrus is an upbeat, loving and sweet Schnauzer/Terrier mix weighing about 16-17 lbs. He was rescued from the Devore Animal Shelter and was marked as age four, but my rescue vet and I both agree that he is closer to age three. Cyrus is a scruffy-coated dog, which is low to no shedding. Cyrus is cuter than cute - he is adorable. He has loving, warm eyes, a very cute face, and ears that go straight upward. There are some other playful dogs in my current pack, and Cyrus is the forerunner of play, which is so typical of his breed. They can play and play, and Cyrus loves to take chase and have all the other dogs chase after him (see video). He is very fast! Even though Cyrus is very playful (providing there are also other dogs around that like to play); he can also settle down and just chill near me. Cyrus is an intelligent dog that can learn things quickly, therefore, he would LOVE formal training because he would relish in learning commands or even tricks. Cyrus learned the rescue routine quickly and does well overall; occasionally he gets mischievous and pushes limits, but nothing a strong voice command will not address. In fact, Cyrus responds to correction well and takes a submissive stance to me. Cyrus is crate-trained as well as potty-trained (however potty reinforcement is needed in any new environment), and is not considered a “marker.” (Dogs here at the rescue are crated to eat, sleep, and when folks are gone from home and Cyrus has done very well.) He loves his little raw hide sticks at bedtime. I have seen a protective side to Cyrus of barking at the fence-line if someone comes near. When he meets new people, his reaction is to initially bark; however, as soon as Cyrus sees that a person is nice and wants to be friends, he warms up within a minute. He can also be “mouthy” so an adopter would need to continue working on that. Mouthy is when a dog never learned that puppy play biting is no longer acceptable. It does not hurt; he is communicating with his mouth like many dog breeds do; yet and still, I correct him if he does this. The aforementioned is very typical to the Schnauzer and terrier breeds and people who have owned dogs of this breed-type will be familiar with these traits, and understand that they are merely a training issue. Overall, Cyrus is super affectionate and people-oriented, and will submit to the authority of the human owner. Cyrus is a great little dog to do activities with and/or be a companion to another dog. He would relish in doing new things, agility, taking walks, hikes, short runs (we do not adopt for longer running as forced exercise can lead to early onset injuries, and eventually surgeries, in dogs). The home I seek for Cyrus is a home with another young, playful dog. The dog can be his size or a bit larger as long as that dog is good with smaller dogs and will not harm him with too rough play. I personally think Cyrus’s best fit is with a female, however, depending on the male dog, he is also fine. Cyrus is a good match to be adopted together with Benson, because they know each other, like each other, and play well together, but it is not my expectation, nor is it my requirement, that they be adopted together. Some semblance of a yard is a huge plus. I can also consider homes where there is no other dog, but where there are some compensatory activities, and, ongoing dog/dog socialization. He has a large white chest and perky ears; he's darling. Bruno is a mature adult dog at 8 years old. When Bruno was a young puppy he lived at Downtown Dog Rescue when it was just a parking lot and two volunteers. He was a very happy dog who was quickly adopted. Sadly, his owner passed away and he is back at our kennel. A little older and wiser, he is again looking for a home. Bruno lives at our kennel in South Gate. He came back to us a little out of shape, too many treats, plus, he went through ACL surgery. Because of the extra pressure this created on his opposite leg, Bruno has to take it easy. No long hikes or dog parks for this guy. He needs a simple life with someone to love who will give him some snuggles, short walks and a super soft bed. He is a very sweet boy who will be easy to manage. He does not mind other dogs but prefers to have his human all to himself! He would do well in most homes with no small children or other pets. Bruno lived with a dog sibling most his life, but now that he is older he wants to relax and be the only dog. We cannot blame him! Meet the stunning looking Morty, who we call Morty-Snorty as he snorts a lot. He walks perfectly on leash and is the type dog you can walk in any metropolitan areas and he is quiet and calm. Morty is 7 years old and weighs 52 pounds, is low to the ground, and is in great shape. He is the type that is not cuddly unless he knows his person very well. He can get very unsure if people push him to pet and hug so is best suited in a one person household that is a low stress environment as a companion dog. He is good with dogs but does not care that much about them, and would be just fine and content as the only dog. He loves to go for walks and tag along for car rides and is a dog that needs a laid back, easy-going lifestyle and hanging out with his person. SEE VIDEO ALSO ON THIS PAGE! Princess Daisy is a young adult Pit Bull who we rescued from South L.A. Shelter when she was 4 months of age. She would do best in a house with a yard as the only dog where she can exercise running around, lay in the sun and relaxing, and hang out with her owner and live an easy life! She must be a companion dog to the humans, both indoors and out. At seven years old she weighs 75 pounds and is fully grown. Princess Daisy is a beautiful dog with perfect eyeliner just like a Geisha! She is very calm and affectionate in the house and loves to lay by your feet and relax and is happy to greet every person that comes around, but will get anxious walking on leash on busy streets with people running/jogging, bicycles and skateboards coming towards her. Princess Daisy needs a confident and patient owner who will continue to work with her being out and about in the big world if that is desired, HOWEVER she would be very happy to be a “house dog” and live an easy life with you in and out of the house and go for car rides which is one of her favorite things to do, and most of all, being close to her person and getting tummy rubs! Are you a person that would enjoy giving this girl a chance to have a great life? She would love to be your one and only and she will be the most loyal and loving friend you will ever have! Princess Daisy is crate-trained, house-broken, spayed, microchipped and has had all shots including rabies and is a very healthy dog.
