Adoption Questionnaire

Our goal is to match you with the best dog to fit your lifestyle. To get started, please fill out this brief adoption questionnaire and we will get back to you to set up a meet and greet. After meeting our dog(s) and you are ready to forward with adoption, we will provide you with resources to help you get ready for your new dog and arrange a home delivery. Our suggested adoption donation is $250. This tax-deductible donation helps us continue our mission to help dogs in need.

Please note: Our dogs are available for adoption in the greater Los Angeles area. We do not adopt out of state. We occasionally have courtesy listings for dogs that belong to other rescue groups. Please read the pet’s bio and contact that group directly for more information.

If you like easy strolls and lounging around, Browny would be great company. Browny is currently living at our Downtown Dog Rescue kennel where we've learned he even knows how to use a doggy door. He has a large white chest and perky ears; he's darling. Bruno is a mature adult dog at 9 years old. When Bruno was a young puppy he lived at Downtown Dog Rescue when it was just a parking lot and a couple volunteers. He was a very happy dog who was quickly adopted. Sadly, his owner passed away and he is back at our kennel. A little older and wiser, he is again looking for a home. He needs a simple life with someone to love who will give him some snuggles, short walks and a super soft bed. He is a very sweet boy who will be easy to manage. He does not mind other dogs but prefers to have his human all to himself! He would do well in most homes with no small children or other pets. Bruno lived with a dog sibling most his life, but now that he is older he wants to relax and be the only dog. We cannot blame him! Bruno would love some visitors, come meet him at our kennel in South Gate and learn more about being a forever foster for Bruno! Dani is a courtesy post for Dawg Squad Rescue. If you are interested in Dani, please contact Dawgsquad@rocketmail.com Hi there! You may recognize me. I was in Dawg Squad about 3 years ago and yes….sadly…I am back. You see, my person fell on some hard times and he couldn’t keep me anymore. I’m not mad at him or anything…..just a little sad that we can’t live together. BUT my Dawg Squad fosters are cool I love doing normal dog things. I especially like hanging out with Josel down at Burton Chase Park. I’m his “eye candy” when he’s doing a photo shoot. Yup…..people see me and think I’m adorable….then they think he must be awesome to have such an awesome dog with him. Win/win right? Why don’t you fill out an application and WE can get together? Maybe for a snack or something?

This is a courtesy listing for another rescue group. See proper contact information within the written Bio. PLEASE READ ENTIRE BIO BEFORE CONTACTING RESCUE. SEE VIDEO ALSO ON THIS PAGE! To view video on Petfinder or Adopt-a-Pet, click on the video icon within Petfinder or Adopt-a-Pet. To view video otherwise, paste this link: https://youtu.be/uJM1WKeN5Uw in your address bar on top. Thank you! Dylan is a wonderful 6-7 month old Italian Greyhound/Chihuahua mix (also known as a “Greyhuahua”) rescued from the San Bernardino Shelter (he was DNA tested). He is a great pup with an easy going attitude, who loves all people and dogs. Dylan’s personality is more so along the lines of Italian Greyhound, agile, athletic, companionable, intelligent, playful and alert. Dylan is a must meet. (Note: If you are one to favor girl dogs, please read my article, “Boys vs. Girls” on my website: www.angelsheartdogrescue.com). Dylan is a super cute dog that is very soft with adorable upright ears and a cute puppy face that will most likely always have that perpetual puppy look. He has beautiful tan markings and ticking spots and even the distinct shape of a heart on his left side! He currently weighs about 13 lbs. He has long legs and is tall, which makes him good for walking and hiking. He is a friendly dog, loving and affectionate, that loves to cuddle with humans and other dogs and give them kisses. Dylan frequently cuddles on the same pet bed with any other dog here. He loves to interactively play with other young, playful dogs, but also seeks comfort and connection with the larger, calmer role model canines. Dylan enjoys toys. He loves to play tug-of-war with another dog, or dangles a toy in front of a dog’s face to entice play and chase. He also enjoys wresting, and just anything that involves playing with other dogs. But Dylan can also totally settle down very nicely and chill. Dylan is NOT a hyper dog such as those dogs that cannot sit still. If I need to lie down during the day, Dylan will settle and lie down next to me for hours. Dylan is also a great balance of being near you, and exploring and being more independent. He does not come off as super needy, nor does he show signs of separation anxiety. He shows no signs of destructive behavior. Dylan is crate-trained and potty-trained (though potty reinforcement is needed in any new environment). He does not mark my house or porch or things outside, but prefers to “go” on the lawn and then he is done. If I need to crate Dylan for a bit, in particular when I leave, Dylan is amazing. He is always as quiet as a mouse. Dylan is a smart, well-behaved, and is a fairly easy to manage puppy. He also learned the doggie door (dogs at the rescue are crated to eat, sleep, and when folks are gone from home). The home we seek for Dylan has another friendly pup in the home that can be his companion, either a chill dog that likes him and does not mind cuddling and affection, or a more playful pup. Dylan can also be matched with a slightly larger dog as long as the dog is familiar with, and respectful to smaller dogs. Dylan has played with a 45 lb. Shepherd pup and held his own. A home with some semblance of a yard is plus, and with people who are not collectively gone from home for long, extended hours on a regular or daily basis (and no you do not have to be retired!). Dylan is a true gem, and anyone who adopts Dylan will acquire a good find! NOTE: We only adopt dogs as primarily INDOOR dogs. Dogs can go outside to play, potty, to sun themselves at will, but should never be excluded to an outside area. You do not need to give a dog the run of the entire house, and an appropriate sized wire crate works very well during a transitional phase. Dylan is neutered, fully vaccinated, Front-lined, dewormed, and micro-chipped. If you are interested in Dylan, email Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue at: adopt@angelsheartdogrescue.com. In the email, please provide some information about your home, family, other pets, and dog experience. Please also check your spam folder for an email reply from the rescue. If you wish, provide a phone number. Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue is a private, home-based rescue. We do have a process that involves some dialoging and an application (applications are not online); you can read about this process on my website: http://www.angelsheartdogrescue.com (go to the Adoption Tab). We seek stable homes that can provide a life-long environment for the dogs in our care. The phone number to the rescue is: 626-340-9316. There is no need to phone the rescue unless you do not receive a response from your email within 24 hours (evening to night emails may get a response the following morning).

Meet Kobe! He is a 4 year old Mastiff/Staffordshire terrier mix. Kobe is cute! He has a stocky build and a gorgeous face. He is 75 pounds full grown. Kobe has a shiny black coat with white markings. Kobe is originally from the South LA Shelter and is now living at the Downtown Dog Rescue kennel. Kobe trains every Sunday with our dog trainer. If you adopt Kobe, he comes with 6 months of weekly training sessions at our kennel plus two weeks of boarding. He walks well on leash and does not pull unless he sees a cat or small dog. He knows his basic commands, sit, down, stay and come and orients to his handler well. Kobe is very strong, but very gentle and sweet as well. Due to his size and strength we believe he would do well with an experienced dog owner either as an only dog or with a large confident female dog. SEE VIDEO! Morty is 7 years old and weighs 52 pounds, is low to the ground, and is in great shape. He is the type that is not cuddly unless he knows his person very well. He can get very unsure if people push him to pet and hug so is best suited in a one person household that is a low stress environment as a companion dog. He is good with dogs but does not care that much about them, and would be just fine and content as the only dog. He loves to go for walks and tag along for car rides and is a dog that needs a laid back, easy-going lifestyle and hanging out with his person. SEE VIDEO ALSO ON THIS PAGE! Princess Daisy is a young adult Pit Bull who we rescued from South L.A. Shelter when she was 4 months of age. She would do best in a house with a yard as the only dog where she can exercise running around, lay in the sun and relaxing, and hang out with her owner and live an easy life! She must be a companion dog to the humans, both indoors and out. At seven years old she weighs 75 pounds and is fully grown. Princess Daisy is a beautiful dog with perfect eyeliner just like a Geisha! She is very calm and affectionate in the house and loves to lay by your feet and relax and is happy to greet every person that comes around, but will get anxious walking on leash on busy streets with people running/jogging, bicycles and skateboards coming towards her. Princess Daisy needs a confident and patient owner who will continue to work with her being out and about in the big world if that is desired, HOWEVER she would be very happy to be a “house dog” and live an easy life with you in and out of the house and go for car rides which is one of her favorite things to do, and most of all, being close to her person and getting tummy rubs! Are you a person that would enjoy giving this girl a chance to have a great life? She would love to be your one and only and she will be the most loyal and loving friend you will ever have!
