BE IN THE KNOW: Pitbull or Pet-friendly rentals in Los Angeles and beyond:

WoofTags was created out of our passion for saving animals. During our decades of work and volunteering at shelters and rescues, we saw first-hand the tragic results of so many lost pets. As one shelter’s webmaster, we set them up to sell pet ID tags online. It was one part of promoting “a tag is your pet’s ticket home” – the shelter even offered a ‘free’ ride home to stray pets with ID if they could reach the owner and return it right away!

Still, all too often, pets were found without ID, or with unreadable, worn out tags. Those pets might wait for days in the shelter before they were finally found – taking up all-too-valuable kennel space. We were inspired: we wanted to promote a better quality tag than those cheap aluminum vending machine tags, a tag that would not wear out, so pets could be home instead of in a shelter!

Another idea sparked our creation of WoofTags. Rescues can only provide vet care and boarding for as many pets as they can afford. So we’ve dedicated ourselves to helping those rescues do all they can do to help homeless pets, by donating ALL of our profits to their difficult life-saving mission.

Thank you for buying your tags from WoofTags and helping rescued pets!

More tips from a successful pitbull renter:

What helped me was: 1) having renters insurance. I pay like $300/year which works out to like $25 per month for Renters insurance with liability that covers up to half million. Plus $5,000 personal property. This makes landlords feel more secure because they don’t need to purchase additional homeowners insurance or worry that they’ll be liable. 2) My dog has her CGC Canine Good Citizen Certification. It basically says, “This dog is good in ALL situations.” 3) I made a doggy resume, to personalize her some. 4) I also got letters of recommendation from her vet, dog sitters, old roommates. I attached all this nonsense to prove that A) I’m a responsible owner, B) I love her, C) She’s a responsible dog. It took a couple tries but 4th time was a charm. We had 3 people say ok, and then back out at the last min. The good news is, I ALWAYS found a place by the time I needed it. Sometimes just 2 days ahead. Yes, they were close calls. Don’t give up!
