DDR DOG SPOTLIGHT: THRILLER

THRILLER

Thriller is approximately one year old and has spent his entire life with his owner living outside, on the streets and in the parks in Compton. Downtown Dog Rescue vaccinated, neutered and micro chipped him as a young pup and we have watched him grown up. His owner went to jail and because Thriller was wearing a DDR ID tag, a friend of his owner called us and we were able to rescue him immediately. He is currently in a foster home with lots of other dogs and cats. He is extremely loving with people and other dogs.

A medium size dog, he weighs about 50 lbs, is in super health and has no behavioral or health issues that a potential adopter should be concerned about. Basically, Thriller is good to go! He has never had a home and your home would be his first. Please consider adopting this well socialized, trained dog that is so deserving of a good home.

DDR DOG SPOTLIGHT: Dena

HELLO,
I am Dena also called “Miss Social Butterfly”!
I love people and dogs, nothing is more fun
than new friends in my opinion.

I am almost 10 months old now

and still have that “puppy energy” humans refer to.
I also liketo relax,
so I have been told that I will probably be a medium energy dog,
around 50 pounds as I mature.
I have learned basic commands,
am house broken
(of course…I am not a baby…),
crate trained.
I am very happy and content,
no anxiety here!

DDR DOG SPOTLIGHT: Kirby

KIRBY

Kirby is an English Bull Dog mix with Pit bull Terrier that was rescued by a homeless man in Compton who took her out of horrible situation at a truck yard where she was starved and she had no shelter. This man was determined to help her in a everyway he could. He brought her to our mobile clinic in Compton, explained where she was living and the fact that she was going back to a place where she was unwanted. Taking one look at her, skinny, filthy dirty, the look on her face of a defeated dog who had too many litters to count in her short life, DDR decided to take her into our rescue. She is a very sweet dog that we estimate to be under 2 years. She lived with many other dogs at the truck yard and likes everyone she meets. This is a low energy
“bully type” of dog that is happier to lie on your couch than go and chase squirrels and hunt. She would make a wonderful apartment or condo dog because she does not require a lot of exercise and space to burn off energy like most pit bull terriers. Once she gains weight and muscle, she will be low and wide like an English Bulldog. Please consider adopting or even fostering Kirby.

Kirby is:
already spayed
housetrained
good with kids
good with dogs
up to date with shots

DDR DOG SPOTLIGHT: SUNSHINE

Sunshine
Catahoula Leopard Dog/Pit Bull Terrier Mix

Medium • Adult • Female

Meet Sunshine a 2 year old Catahoula Leopard Dog mixed with a pit bull. If you have ever dreamedof owning a herding pit bull mix type dog, she is your girl. This is a WONDERFULLY social dog with people and other dogs. She is an off leash type dog who would learn very quickly to go on off leash hikes. She plays with at least 12 other dogs at a time in our pack and understands rank and order in a dog pack very quickly. She is more intelligent than most of our knucklehead pit bulls and learned the rules quickly. She is approximately 50 lbs, spayed current on all vaccinations and microchipped. She was rescued by DDR from the South LA shelter. She was the shelter pick, all the volunteers loved her and did not want to see her euthanized. She went out to many mobile adoption events, including the Best Friends Super Adoption but was not adopted. In fact, she made such a positive impression on everyone that Karma Rescue who had already taken 8 dogs, offered to board her for two weeks at their vet’s office if DDR would take her. We gladly accepted and a ray of Sunshine entered our kennel the day she came to live with us. She plays well with Bruno, Medira and Sasha to name a few of the many DDR dogs that line up to play with this sweet girl. Please call Sandy at 818-407-4145 or e-mail me at Lori@modernica.net.

DDR DOG SPOTLIGHTS: JADE & CICELY

CICELY

JADE

Hi! I’m Jade! I’m about one and a half years old and LOVE my walks, I wag my whole body when I see you and I am ready to learn whatever you want to teach me. I’m in training class now with other dogs and I am a really fast learner, and, uh,..er… I’m a “Flat-Coated Poodle!” Yep, that’s it, “Flat-Coated Poodle” be the first on your block to have one! What’s that? I look like a Pit Bull….oh, uh, ok, I know, no such thing as a “Flat-Coated whatever” yes, I’m a Pit, a happy, huggy, healthy, love to by yours Pit…aw gimme a chance, I’m a good buddy and a swell listener!

Jade is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered.

DDR DOG SPOTLIGHT: CHARLIE!

It was Charlie’s lucky day when our president found him wandering the streets of North Hollywood and he gladly got into her car. Even if he had an owner, how good of an owner could he have had considering he was filthy dirty, too thin, fly strikes on both ears and full of fleas. He looked as if he had been attacked by a dog, perhaps while he was wandering the streets, looking for something to eat. He is now at her vet’s office in a dog run, much better than the street but definitely not a home. Charlie is at least 10 years old and he is a “hard ten” meaning we suspect that he was a backyard dog who really had no life at all. With just a couple of days of eating and relaxing, he seems years younger.

This boy is a real long shot in terms of finding a forever home so we are also looking for a forever foster home. If you would like to adopt a senior dog but perhaps you are concerned with the possible medical expenses associated with caring for an older dog, call us, we can work something out. We want Charlie’s last years to truly be his golden years!

Charlie is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered.
