DDR DOG SPOTLIGHT: CHLOE!!!!

We’re excited to re-visit one of our favorite rescues with fellow rescuers
CHLOE IS WHO WE HAVE IN MIND AND WE LOOOOVE HER!!!!

Chloe is looking for a new home and we’re rooting for her to get one soon!!!!
Find out about Chloe:

Chloe was red-listed at the West LA Shelter and Down Town Dog Rescue stepped in and pulled her.

She was very timid when she was first rescued but now she has warmed up and is a very sweet dog that loves going for walks and playing with other dogs.

Chloe knows how to sit, go down, and walks well on a leash. She is very quiet, mellow and low energy and would do well in a home or apartment. She is the type of dog who will just hang out with you if that’s what you feel like doing or she will join you for a stroll on the beach or a hike in the hills.

Chloe is just an all around sweet dog.

SOUTH LA SHELTER RESCUE ME SPOTLIGHT: DEAD BY MONDAY : Magoo : Overwhelmingly cute undercover underbite A1102422 South L.A.

Dear little Magoo is patiently waiting for someone to save him and his underbite. I received word yesterday from the shelter that his time is up — and he will be put to sleep if not rescued / adopted. I’ve watched Magoo for nearly 7 weeks and each time I see him, I can’t help but smile. Looking up with those wide eyes, those funny little teeth, he’s as cute as he can be — only weighs 21 pounds. But, he’s lost in a shelter that gets in 10, 20, 30 dogs a day. Regardless of the fact that he stands up to greet everyone, wagging his tail with joy; regardless of his sweet soul, Magoo is still a number among many. Please, don’t let Magoo die. Call the South L.A. shelter at (213) 485-0117 or -0119 to save him.

And kindly let me know so I won’t be tied in knots with worry — which I am now. Andrea

MAGOO KEEPS HIS UNDERBITE UNDERCOVER

IT’S HARD TO CATCH IT ON CAMERA

SOMETIMES HE’S TOO COMFY TO DISPLAY IT

AT OTHER TIMES HE’S TOO BUSY

WE CAUGHT IT PEEKING THROUGH A WEE
BIT HERE WHILE HE SAT IN MY LAP

BUT IN THE PUBLIC EYE HE KEEPS IT
WELL-DISGUISED BY THIS BIG SMILE

Magoo (A1102422, 2 years old, just 21 pounds, at the shelter since March 25th — way beyond the normal shelter welcome period) caught my eye the first time I saw him. That underbite was overly cute. When […]

DAMIEN’S RESCUE DIARY: #1 My Life

HI ! My Name is Damien. I am approximately 3 years and would have became homeless if not rescued by a ‘homeboy’s mom’. My homeboy is Boxer.
I am looking at you through my yard on the last day my family moved away. . .they never said good bye to me . . .but I knew things were not right.
Boxer’s Mom came over after I had stayed at my house for a day after my family had left – they were unpacking at their new place – the apartment they live at doesn’t accept dogs. . .I am not a dog . . . I have feelings . . . I am a people person.

Boxer’s Mom is a nice lady she gave me food and I was really hungry too. I am really glad she came because I was getting scared about being tied up on the chain with those bad dogs that lived next door. They jumped the fence and attacked me twice

This is what happened to me – I lost my right eye because of the second attack. I guess I look pretty good after three weeks.

Homeboy Boxer’s Mom picked me up on May 6th. I was so relieved but then an awful thing happened – she got out the hose – NO ! NOT ! THE ! BATH !

But hey this wasn’t so bad, nice warm soapy water, Auh Yeah Babe. . .my hot spots stop itching . . . lady did you have to turn on that cold water to rinse me . . . I’ll hide behind these Bamboo sticks holding up her Spider Lilly – Shoot that did work . . .

O My ! What’s this ! fresh water and a full bowl of dog food AND A CLEAN BLANKIE ! I’m in heaven. . . .I’m gonna chow down and take a nap. . . .wow dude what happened – its now morning . . .gees do I gotta whiz . . .Hurry up Lady and Finish walking Boxer and Buddy (Boxer’s Brother) . . . O BOY ITS MY TURN ! sorry the garbage can is mine, and the wall, the neighbor’s steps and the corner of the bushes, the light pole, fire hydrant – all this even before the walk.

Who is this lady she knows everybody – Daisy, Shirley, Chico-the-man, Diamond, Curley, Star, Chuckie-is-Sexy, Gus, Taco, the Gator Babies. . . .this turned out to be a pretty good walk . . . and all the poles . . . o my . . .

This won’t be too bad. . .the second day I got too see everybody again – I […]

PITStop Community Assist: BELLA!

We want to help Nisha find resolution regarding BELLA, a 4 year old pit bull that she recently ended up caring for, here in Southern California. Nisha is BELLA’s3rd guardian. BELLA’s 2nd owner is signing up for the Navy and can no longer care for BELLA. The 1st owner had to move into another place that could not accommodate a dog. Nisha does not want to drop her off to Los Angeles Animal Services because the holding time is 4 days max. She lives in the back house of BELLA’s 2nd owner.

She cannot take BELLA but she has been feeding her and allowing BELLA to sleep inside her house at night. She will try and hold out longer and find her a home. BELLA’s 2nd owner has completely washed his hands of her…sad. Nisha has noticed that BELLA has been rapidly losing weight. She is willing to drive BELLA to a vet appt but does not have the finances to currently subsidize a vet check-up.

Here is her plea:

My name is Nisha & I have been taking care of a 4 year old female Pittbull Mix that belongs to the neighbor in the front house where I live. She was given to him about 2 months ago and I have been feeding her and I can’t afford to feed her for the fact that I have 2 dogs of my own. She needs to be seen by a Vet ASAP, she’s been losing weight other than that she seems very active. She’s house trained and I let her in my house and never had any accidents. She’s a very sweet dog, she’s very good with my 16lb.& 4lb. dogs, but when she sees other dogs she is very vocal, I don’t know if it’s because she gets excited or if she will be aggressive, I can’t tell with her. Maybe she needs to go to a home without other dogs. I need help with her in finding a good loving home for her. If there is anyone out there that would like to adopt her please let me know. By the way her name is Bella. Thank you.

DDR Doggy Snippets: Awaiting Summer

LARRY

From Lori:

If someone is looking for a quiet, mellow, very loving dog, look no further,
it’s Larry. We walked over a mile at lunch time today and I could have held
the leash with one finger. He walks so beautifully, always one step behind
me, waiting for my direction. He is so out of place at this knuckle head
pit bull kennel. He loves Janey and Medira!

VIDEO FUN!

“KURO ON DEATHROW”

Here’s a new pic of Kuro at Wed. cruise night last night. Everytime I bring him to an event, everyone shows him love and vice versa! They always say they’d adopt him if they didn’t already have one (or more) pets…He could pass for “Clancy Jr.”!

PITStop Community Assist: YUKI

YUKI NEEDS A HOME!

Two teachers, Lori and Tara, who also happen to be Downtown Dog Rescue supporters, were met by students carrying a severely neglected puppy last week. “Yuki” was starving and covered in fleas and ticks. The students explained that their family didn’t like dogs and threw him in the trash. They knew that the teachers liked dogs, so brought Yuki to them after they found him thrown away like garbage.

After a bath, Yuki is feeling and looking much better! He is a gorgeous furry white lab mix with beautiful green eyes! Lori the teacher has already gotten him vaccinated. Currently, he is about 10 pounds, but will probably be a medium to large sized dog.

He is great with kids, other dogs, and cats.

Please contact Tara if you are interested in YUKI: tarajschultz@yahoo.com

PITStop Community Assist: Tiger REDUX – Meeting Cats

NEW VIDEO: Tiger Meeting CATS!!

AN EXTRA SPECIAL PLEA:
LORI WEISE WILL PERSONALLY DONATE
$200 to a 501(C)(3)rescue to pull TIGER

FROM: NICOLE SALTER

Hi all,
I’ve been visiting this dog at WLA 4x a week for 2 months. While getting the most urgent ones out, he sits there modestly behind his bars, not barking and just being the little Pei mix that he is. He’s not overly animated but will PLAY PLAY PLAY when in the yard. I’ve had Pei Mixes and this is how they are….and they are the most understated GEMS. And they get overlooked. Just like Tiger is getting overlooked. The shelter neutered him so they consider him VERY adoptable…..Debbie Fan has worked with him a lot and takes him to mobile adoptions so she’d be able to tell you a lot about his personality and temperament. The WLA Shelter uses him as their “test” dog w/females since he’s so good with them.
Tiger is a great little dog and he will be an amazing companion….he needs to get out.

Contact Nicole Salter at nicoleasalter@yahoo.com
310-621-4137 or contact the shelter directly!

What a sweet calm face and those ears!! …those ears – those silly Shar Pei-y ears that look so silly on that big head but ooh so silky

I politely wait in my kennel until they come to take me out to play and then it is play, play play…but I have seen a lot of my play mates going away these past two weeks and i hope they have beeadopted and not killed PLEASE RESCUE ME.

A1079663 My name is Tiger and I am a neutered male, brown brindle American Staffordshire Terrier and Chinese Sharpei.
