A new fundraiser for us!

Donation alert! This month, Babes in Toyland Charity and Centinela Feed & Pet Supplies have teamed up to gather donations for us at Downtown Dog Rescue. We are so thankful they’ve come together to help us!

For starters, there are many opportunities to give through Centinela Feed & Pet Supplies, with 15 stores across LA and the South Bay. So if you need pet food or supplies, we encourage you to go there and donate beds, blankets, collars, leashes, toys, food, treats, pet carriers, flea medications, and more to support our efforts. Just look for donation boxes in any of Centinela’s stores to make a donation. Everything we get from this drive will be used at our Pet Resource Center, which provides much needed goods to the families and pets of the Skid Row community. Our Pet Resource Center, located inside the Inner City Law Center office and in collaboration with LA Animal Services, is offering tangible assistance to people and their pets with nowhere else to turn.

And for even more good news, on Thursday March 30th the 3rd Annual Babes in Toyland – Pet Edition event will be hosted to raise awareness and donations for us! Babes in Toyland gives patrons an opportunity to give back to the community alongside some of the most beautiful women in the world. If you’d like to give back to us, and if you like pretty ladies, please click here to find out more about attending the event.

Sadly there are too many people with so little, barely getting by. But the generosity of this donation drive is flooring us, and we’re already planning to rent a truck in order to pick up all the donations, as well as a storage unit. It’s an unbelievable feeling – to know we will have so much more to offer those who need it desperately . We hope you will be part of this special time. We remain tremendously appreciative for and humbled by everybody who makes our work possible.

The Savings Pet Challenge is ending soon – but our work isn’t! Please support us.

There’s a Bonus Challenge going on right now as part of the Michelson Found Animals Saving Pets Challenge that we’re involved with! In short, the first 200 donations made online of at least $25 will get a $25 matching gift! That means Found Animals is giving away $5,000 worth of matching donations. Can yours be one of them? Can you shower DDR with some double love? As you know, every dollar we raise goes towards our programs. Programs designed to help animals and the people who care for them.

Without our help, she and her dogs had nowhere to turn and no idea how to get what they needed.

As a donor, you will be fueling the good work we are proud to do. You will also have the chance to win a Petcube, which is an interactive pet camera that lets you watch, talk, and play with your pets from your phone when you’re away from home! There will be two winners among those who give $25 or more online, and we wish you the best of luck in being one of them.

We already consider ourselves truly lucky because we have you. Without our supporters, we wouldn’t have the means to be able to keep going. Thank you for giving us the ability and the motivation to fight on. We hope you will make a donation today and help us take advantage of the matching gift offer. Together we can help more families in need.

The Dog Film Festival is coming to town, and we are beneficiaries!

Please consider this your exclusive invite to the Dog Film Festival, coming to Los Angeles in just three weeks! It will be a weekend of unique, like-minded joy.

For starters, on Saturday, June 4th, there’s a “pooch party,” which will be an afternoon tea party on the tented roof at the VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital. We, along with the Lange Foundation, are beneficiaries on all ticket sales!  Then the next night, June the 5th, is a BYOD celebration — Bring-Your-Own-Dog! The Dog Film Festival is the first film festival entirely for, by, and about dogs… and their people. To find out more and get your tickets for these awesome events, please click here!

We hope to see you for this fun-filled, good-willed, canine-billed weekend! Thank you for supporting art that centers around animals, and thank you as always for supporting us.

the plea to contribute to Cowboy’s retirement fund!
Here is Cowboy’s big THANK YOU smile on his way to his forever foster home in Arizona with a DawgSquad Dog Rescue volunteer’s mom who loves old dogs!
With your help, we raised $623.82 to cover his veterinary bills and med care package to his new foster home.
We established a CHIPIN and raised $510.30 from 10 contributors. We did a $5.30 plea from our FACEBOOK network through FundRazr and raised $138.90 from 10 contributors. Many of you wanted to stay anonymous so we will honor that and only put your initials for our big thank you.

We wanted to report back that Cowboy’s final vet bill from BER MAR PET HOSPITAL came to $705.80.This amount covered the following procedures and services: a urinalysis, x-rays for the tumors on his chest, fine needle biopsy, senior blood panel, medicine for hypothyroidism and medical boarding. We sent along with him on his trip to his forever foster home a long-term supply of eyedrops and medicine to keep him comfortable for the rest of his days.

FUNDRAISING HIGHLIGHT! VALENTINES DAY is coming and PLANET SPECK wants you decked out!

From the Planet Speck blog of our Marketing guru here in DDR, Nick Carranza:

Tue, 02/01/2011 – 3:38pm — planetspeck
I’ve been busy at work rebranding and creating marketing pieces to help create awareness, and ultimately try and help raise money for Downtown Dog Rescue (D.D.R.). Since Valentines Day is upon us, I thought I’d try a fundraising T-shirt . I had this sad eyed photo of Speck(of Planet Speck) and always wanted to use it for something, what better than fundraising for pitbull advocacy? I hope you’ll consider supporting Downtown Dog Rescue, who last year provided FREE spay and neuter to over 700 dogs in South L.A. alone!

Being that I’m using Zazzle.com for the first time, I went ahead and ordered a shirt for my wife, just to make sure quality wasn’t an issue. To my critical eye, I had no complaint. Great work Zazzle!

All proceeds will be donated to Downtown Dog Rescue.

A big shout out to the inspiration: SPECKalicious!!!!!!
