PITStop Community Assist: BRETT! DDR cares about cats too!

On April 26, a good samaritan by the name of Gary found an injured cat that was emaciated, had abscess infections, swelling, etc. He brought it to the attention of Sondra from the non-profit rescue group Friends For Animals(DDR is a project within FFA)and she decided to take him in. This injured kitty is now named Brett and Sondra is seeking assistance from good souls to nurse this neglected kitty back to health. Brett needs major medical attention and rehab.

He has Feline AIDS but that is the least of his worries as you can see from the pictures. Brett was totally dehyrated when he was found and suffering from an enormous infection on the side of his head…the skin is black and dead. He has been in surgery they found maggots in the wounds.

Poor Brett was a mess, but Sondra is doing an excellent job caring for him but again, needs the assistance of others out there to keep up with Brett’s medical costs. Brett (and Sondra) will be footing a $900 vet bill and she needs help!

KARMA RESCUE CO-SPOTLIGHT: Roxy!

ROXY!
English Bulldog, Staffordshire Bull Terrier [Mix]

Roxy was at WLA Animal Shelter when her time ran out. She was able to get out w/ the help of some of the volunteers. Unfortunately in her new situation, she became a victim of extreme neglect and ended up at a shelter in Downey Her skin condition was so bad that the volunteers who went to find her didn’t recognize her. With the help of Karma Rescue they were able to get her out, find her proper vet treatment and now she is happy and healthy!

Roxy loves to play. She is currently at a facility where she can interact with other dogs. After all she has been through, she is still a happy girl. She’s still recovering from all she has been through and continues to learn to adapt to new situations.

Pit Bulls personalities are energetic, loyal, intelligent, fun loving, and affectionate. Pit Bulls require intelligent, responsible, and dedicated leadership. Because of the breed’s undeserved negative media image, human companions living with a pit bull have to be more careful and responsible than the average human dog companion.

Roxy is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered

PITStop Community Assist: YUKI

YUKI NEEDS A HOME!

Two teachers, Lori and Tara, who also happen to be Downtown Dog Rescue supporters, were met by students carrying a severely neglected puppy last week. “Yuki” was starving and covered in fleas and ticks. The students explained that their family didn’t like dogs and threw him in the trash. They knew that the teachers liked dogs, so brought Yuki to them after they found him thrown away like garbage.

After a bath, Yuki is feeling and looking much better! He is a gorgeous furry white lab mix with beautiful green eyes! Lori the teacher has already gotten him vaccinated. Currently, he is about 10 pounds, but will probably be a medium to large sized dog.

He is great with kids, other dogs, and cats.

Please contact Tara if you are interested in YUKI: tarajschultz@yahoo.com

PITStop Community Assist: Tiger REDUX – Meeting Cats

NEW VIDEO: Tiger Meeting CATS!!

AN EXTRA SPECIAL PLEA:
LORI WEISE WILL PERSONALLY DONATE
$200 to a 501(C)(3)rescue to pull TIGER

FROM: NICOLE SALTER

Hi all,
I’ve been visiting this dog at WLA 4x a week for 2 months. While getting the most urgent ones out, he sits there modestly behind his bars, not barking and just being the little Pei mix that he is. He’s not overly animated but will PLAY PLAY PLAY when in the yard. I’ve had Pei Mixes and this is how they are….and they are the most understated GEMS. And they get overlooked. Just like Tiger is getting overlooked. The shelter neutered him so they consider him VERY adoptable…..Debbie Fan has worked with him a lot and takes him to mobile adoptions so she’d be able to tell you a lot about his personality and temperament. The WLA Shelter uses him as their “test” dog w/females since he’s so good with them.
Tiger is a great little dog and he will be an amazing companion….he needs to get out.
