SOUTH LA SHELTER RESCUE ME SPOTLIGHT: Shelter sisters smile -mastiff/bulldog mixes A1138873 & A1138877

SEE THE SADDEST SHELTER SISTERS SMILE

SO WORRIED — SO SO WONDERFUL
(your heart will break while watching this video, Missey and Audi curled up together in the corner of their very dark kennel, awaiting an unknown fate)
WHAT FACES!!!!! WHAT MUSHY, HUGGABLE HONEYS!!!

IMPOSING AT FIRST — INCREDIBLE ALWAYS

Missey and Audi (A1138873 and A1138877, both 5 years old) have spent their entire life out of doors and have the callouses and a bit of stiffness to prove it. Yet, their hearts are not hardened. These girls seek solace in each other’s company — in the corner of their kennel, hiding from people’s eyes, from thoughts of making them into guard dogs. Their owner turned them in because of “cost” and indicated that they were friendly with people and other dogs. (We have not had a chance to get them out with other dogs yet but will do so. They did not react to others when they were impounded — a good sign.) They were certainly sweet-natured girls with everyone when we had them out and their antics were hilarious. Audi would take the treats while Missey would wag her tail. Gentle and loving, they need to get out of the shelter now or they will fall into deeper depression and illness — and face their death.
Please call the South L.A. shelter at (213) 485-0117 or (213) 485 -0119 to save them. And please let us know that you have opened your hearts to the saddest shelter sisters.

SOUTH LA SHELTER RESCUE ME SPOTLIGHT: Luscious Papaya – dobie / husky mix 1 blue eye A1132618 South L.A.

MUST BE OUT BY SAT August 7, 2010 in the a.m.

PREVIOUSLY PATHETIC PAPAYA

BECOMES PASSIONATE PAPAYA

WITH GENTLE COAXING

THE SMILE APPEARS, THE HEART MELTS

Papaya (A1132618, 4 year old, dobie / husky mix, on alert and needs out by Saturday morning, 8 a.m.!!!) is a luscious girl. Out of her kennel on our walk, I was surprised and impressed that everyone who saw her expressed their admiration at her beauty and grace. Papaya has been so worried at the shelter. She hid in the back of her kennel, refusing to eat, lost 6 pounds — and was moved to ISO where she has been dining on gourmet cuisine. We took her for a photo shoot and with just a little compassion, in a few minutes, this girl showed off her sweet smile, her charm. I was touched by her reaction to the two sets of puppies on either side of her ISO kennel — she wagged her tail at them, obviously thinking back to the puppies that she once had. Papaya is a shy girl who will reward your attentions with a wonderful wag of her tail and a gleam in her eye — especially the blue one. She now has URI and is in need of immediate rescue.
If you would consider saving this lovely girl, please call the South L.A. shelter at (213) 485-0117 or -0119.
And kindly let us know that she is as delicious as we believe her to be.

SOUTH LA SHELTER RESCUE ME SPOTLIGHT: CHELSEA HAS TILL THURSDAY MORNING! A1130561

CHELSEA PUPPY (NOT CLINTON) IS CONSIDERING MARRIAGE TOO
(BUT FIRST SHE NEEDS OUT ALIVE — BY THURSDAY A.M.)

SHE’D PROBABLY WANT TO LIVE WITH YOU FIRST

BUT, SHE’S CAUTIOUS, CONSIDERING ALL HER OPTIONS

IF IT DOESN’T WORK OUT — SHE’S ALWAYS GOT HER TOYS

Watch this hilarious video of her in action

Chelsea Puppy (A1130561, just 4 months old, pit face but the softest, furriest body, no idea what breed — on alert for demodex and URI that need treatment as she hasn’t responded enough to meds in the shelter — scheduled to die yesterday — but this sprite was granted an extra 48 hours because she is so sweet!!!! — needs out by Thursday 8 a.m.) is as funny as a puppy can be. When she saw a tennis ball, she sprang into action. Stuffing it in her mouth she ran around underneath the furniture non-stop. Oops, she saw the squeaky toy — she tried to grab both toys in her mouth — but that wouldn’t work. We had to laugh at her silliness. Chelsea has been kenneled with a number of other dogs and LOVES TO PLAY!!! She was just in with a bonded pair — that included a 6-year old rottweiler — and our puppy was best friends with them as well. We were hooked the minute we took her out of the kennel and know that you will be as well. Don’t let this puppy die!!!! She’s 110% full of life.

Call the South L.A. shelter at (213) 485-0117 or (213) 485-0119. And kindly let us know that she is in your arms at last.

SOUTH LA SHELTER RESCUE ME SPOTLIGHT:The Face of Faith : stunning momma pit needs a new playmate A1132180

THE FACE OF FAITH — UNFORGETTABLE

FAITH IS LOOKING FOR A NEW PLAYMATE — HER PUPPIES NOW ALL GONE

HERE’S TOMIKA SINGING HER A LULLABY

AND YESENIA GIVING HER A LAP AND WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT

Everyone adores Faith (A1132180, 3 years old, now on alert for URI and needs out at once!!!!!!!) — and she feels the same in return. Affectionate is Faith’s middle name. Tail wagging without stop, a smile that warms hearts wherever she goes, Faith is seeking that special someone (dog or person) with whom she can share her abundant joy. Friendly Faith raised her puppies, nursed them, romped with them. But, puppies get adopted and moms are left behind. Faith has a new kennel mate now, a big puppy that she watches over — but shelter dogs come and go and Faith is ready for stability and a home of her own. We have taken Faith through the kennels, we’ve had her near to other dogs — she has backed down from growlers and happily approached the curious ones, tail wagging all the time. If you can fulfill Faith’s dream for a playmate — and save her life, please call the South L.A. shelter at (213) 485-0117 or (213) 485-0119. And kindly let us know so that we may spread the happy news.

Cecilia, you’re breaking my heart –
it’s great big terrier time
A1132576 South L.A.

“CECILIA, YOU’RE BREAKING MY HEART…

I’M BEGGING YOU PLEASE TO COME HOME”

SO WONDERFUL THAT PAUL SIMON ACTUALLY WROTE A SONG FOR HER

SO CHARMING THAT SHE WILL STEAL YOUR HEART THE MOMENT YOU MEET HER.
Cecilia (A1132576, already spayed, 6 years old, terrier / Aussie mix, 41 pounds) is the perfect dog. When we first met her, she walked up to my husband and put her head in his lap. She was patient, delicious, adorable, polite. She’s passed her cat test (seems fine — non-chalant). She’s kenneled with other dogs, including a puppy that jumps all over her. Take one look at Cecilia and you will fall in love with this great big terrier — it’s guaranteed. Cecilia needs out of the shelter right now. Call today to save this elegant, affectionate, unusual lady.

URGENT SOUTH LA SHELTER RESCUE ME SPOTLIGHT: ON ALERT & IN DANGER : TAFFETA CAN’T DIE — SHE JUST GOT BACK FROM THE PROM AND IS READY FOR GRADUATION A

LOOK AT TAFFETA IN HER PINK SCARF,
ALL DRESSED UP FOR HER PROM LAST SUNDAY.

Videographer Jennifer Warner was there, fell in love with Taffeta, and captured her giddiness for us all to admire : TAFFETA’S VIDEO

EVERYONE ADORES THIS GIRL — SHE WAS PERFECT ALL DAY LONG.
You’ll envy Kristen, her handler, when you see all the kisses that Taffeta gave her. And look at her favorite position, a la on the back, enjoying tummy rubs.

Taffeta (A1111364, only a year old) is absolutely out of time now (been on alert since May 17th!!!!!). This is her last week (needs out by Friday, the 11th) in our over-crowded shelter. Don’t let this social butterfly die. She showers affection on those lucky enough to meet her. Taffeta is certainly very enthusiastic and she can get slightly mouthy — like the big puppy that she is — but never aggressive — and she does calm down quickly. She’s been fine with other dogs. Graduation is coming up — and those of us who have met her are waiting to see her walk on the stage and out the shelter door.

Please call the South L.A. shelter at (213) 485-0117 or (213) 485-0119 today to save this gem. And kindly let us know that she is safe.
There are currently donations for a qualified rescue — if you wish to add anything, please e-mail / call me.

URGENT SOUTH LA SHELTER RESCUE ME SPOTLIGHT: MUST GET OUT OR WILL BE KILLED : Stringbean Beanie’s a ham A1108252 South L.A.

Stringbean Beanie has been getting the royal treatment at South L.A. A private suite where he gets his own bowl of food (and he has filled in so handsomely!!) ; medication for his demodex / fungal infection ; and even a bit of love from time to time when the staff can take a break to visit him.

Stringbean had a canine girlfriend — Liberty, recently networked — who was lucky enough to find a home — but he’s been left behind. Kristen and I remember him plying her with kisses to bring her out of her shyness.

But, even though he is such a sweet boy, with those goofy ears, one up and one out, and brings a smile to everyone who meets him with his tail always wagging, Beanie has been at the shelter for too long and must get out now!!! He loves life so much, is always happy, wants to please and delight you.

Please don’t let Stringbean Beanie die.

Call South L.A. (213) 485-0117 or 485-0119.

THOUGH STRINGBEAN BEANIE’S EMACIATED

HE’S A REAL HAM :. HERE HE IS ASKING “WHAT TIME’S DINNER?”

NUZZLING, LOVING, PLAYFUL, A STAFF FAVORITE!!!!!

Beanie (A1108252, 3 year old, came in at only 41 pounds, arrived on 4/18 and alerted since 4/30 and absolutely needs out now!!!), has had a rough life. Such a sweet dog who has kept his love for people at the forefront even though tragically ignored by those he trusted. Beanie’s skin is like […]
