Please provide some information about your home, family and other pets. Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue is a private, foster home based rescue. Though there are some steps that precede meeting a dog, they are quick and expeditious. Thank you! SEE VIDEO ALSO ON THIS PAGE! (See video all the way to the end; it is a four-part video, featuring a little training stint at the end!) Rescued from the Ramona Animal Shelter, Calvin is a sweet and friendly Chihuahua/Dachshund mix that weighs about 7 lbs. He greets EVERYONE in a happy and friendly way, no matter who you are. He is a great, small and mobile companion dog for someone who wants a constant steady pal to hang out with, or go to the café with your dog, or take short walks. He just loves to be near you and hang out with you! Calvin especially loves car rides and going on errands (he can wait in the car for you unless it is summer or hot outside). We, at the rescue, have had some trouble finding Calvin a forever home. He is just another male Chihuahua mix of so many, (even though he is super cute), that sometimes displays that typical territorial Chihuahua personality, but it only surfaces now and then. He is a bowlegged dog, with a funky back right leg, so maybe this is a concern for some people, though our rescue’s orthopedic surgeon stated that there is nothing about Calvin’s leg that is an official problem or can be corrected by way of surgery. He was merely born that way and most do not even notice. It does not stop Calvin from jumping up or doing the things that other dogs do. Calvin is quite potty-trained as well as crate trained. We are looking for a compassionate person who would be at least willing to have a conversation with us about Calvin; could that person be you? In spite of some setbacks with Calvin, we still believe that he is deserving of a home of his own. He really does not relish in the rescue environment, in a larger pack, and would prefer a quieter home where he can form a bond and relationship with his person. The best fit for Calvin is a home with one single person (or couple) that longs for a sweet little doggie companion, and is somewhat savvy of this breed type. Calvin does fine with other dogs and he has been around MANY dogs while at the rescue, and is also good with cats, however, he would prefer to be an only dog, or in a home where the other dog is an older, more mature, calm dog, or even better with a cat. Calvin is neutered, micro-chipped, dewormed, and is current on shots including rabies. If you are interested in discussing Calvin, please contact Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue at: adopt@angelsheartdogrescue.com. The phone number to the rescue is: 626-340-9316. • Schnauzer, West Highland White Terrier Westie
  • Up-to-date with routine shots
  • Spayed/Neutered
This is a courtesy listing for another rescue group. Please read dog’s entire written bio before contacting rescue. To inquire about this dog, you do not need to press any special buttons on this website. Send a regular e-mail to Janet Cook at: adopt@angelsheartdogrescue.com. Please provide some information about your home, family and other pets. Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue is a private, foster home based rescue. Though there are some steps that precede meeting a dog, they are quick and expeditious. Thank you! SEE VIDEO ALSO ON THIS PAGE! Sidney is a 3-year-old male West Highland Terrier/Schnauzer mix rescued from the Devore Shelter. He is a low shedding dog, and may even be hypoallergenic. He is basically wash and wear, with maybe some brushing now and then and some clipping around his eyes so he can see, but eventually, his coat can get longer so a professional grooming can occur very rarely. Though Sidney is a wire-haired terrier, his coat is quite soft. He is a GREAT size; he is technically a small dog, but has a medium-sized dog feel. He weighs around 21 lbs. Sidney is a fun, happy, fantastic playful dog that is still waiting for his forever home! Unfortunately, Sidney has had some bad luck finding the right home as he has gone back and forth a bit and why we have had him at the rescue for a while. In one home, the other dog and he were great friends but the cat did not like him. It was a condo, and the adopter was sad to bring Sidney back, but, in her opinion, she felt he should have a yard. In another home, the other dog in the home actually did not want a doggie friend like the owner thought. The adopter said that Sidney was practically perfect in every other way, but she mistook her dog for wanting a playmate. Therefore, we are still looking for that right home where Sidney can have a doggie friend and playmate that actually likes other dogs and wants a friend! We DO feel that a home with another younger active smaller dog is the right home for Sidney. Sidney rides well in the car and walks well on leash. He is a fairly quiet dog but sometimes barks like any dog. He is crate-trained and potty-trained (however, potty reinforcement is needed in any new environment), is a master at the dog door and non-destructive in the house. He eats his food well, and sleeps quietly in his wire crate at night. He is loving, sweet, and warm, and a Velcro dog, wanting to be near his people. He also has some traits that are inherent to most terriers. He is a more active, fun type that loves to play, run around the yard and explore, chase birds and lizards, but can also lie around the house and chill like any dog. The home we seek for Sidney has another dog social and welcoming dog who also enjoys playing, but mainly, a dog that likes other dogs and likes Sidney too, as well as people who are not collectively gone for long, extended hours on a daily basis. They do not need to be playing constantly; we just want a dog that would still be considered “playful,” to some degree. Sidney seems to need the play outlet and brain stimulation and companionship of a steady canine pal. Some semblance of a yard is a must. A crate on-hand would be beneficial for Sidney during a transitional phase to a new place). Sidney is neutered, fully vaccinated (including rabies), Front-lined, dewormed, and micro-chipped. If you are interested in Sidney, please contact Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue at: adopt@angelsheartdogrescue.com. The phone number to the rescue is: 626-340-9316. • Dachshund, Jack Russell Terrier
Rescued from the Ramona Animal Shelter as a two-year-old community stray, Kevin is a friendly, quiet, happy, dog social and people friendly dog that is playful (though he can also chill and rest too!). He is a sweet dog with an kind nature. Kevin loves to hang out with the dog pack, play with various dogs at the rescue, with or without toys, and seems to have a love for toys all around. He also loves to hang out near, or with his person or people and like most dogs; I would consider him a Velcro dog. Having a very long body, and the paws and soulful eyes of a Dachshund, we are SURE that he is a Dachshund mix, but our best guess as to what he is mixed with would be Jack Russell Terrier, and he is more on the size of a standard sized Dachshund, weighing about 21 lbs. Kevin is CUTE! He has a great coloring, cream colored with ticking spots all over and big brindle patches, a lovely healthy coat, and a cute mask to boot! He is a low rider with a happy personality! Kevin is potty-trained (though potty reinforcement is needed in any new environment) and crate-trained (at the rescue, dogs are crated to eat, sleep, and if I have to leave for a bit). We have not tested him with kids, but I have a feeling he would do fine. I do not know if he would play with kids, but nothing about him so far strikes me as scary for kids, and cats are a complete unknown. His leash skills need honing, but a leash is not a complete unknown to him and he can get it down with practice. He tends to jump up towards my lap for attention, but this is a training issue, and he can totally settle down nicely too. Whenever I work at the computer, he finds a pet bed near me and contentedly chills. The home we seek for Kevin is a home with another dog. It would be nice if the other dog was playful, but I think he would do better if there was at least the presence of another dog in the home rather than to be completely alone when those times come. I would love to say that he can be adopted as an only dog in the home, but he strikes me as not being super independent. Please have another dog in the home of any age to express an interest in Kevin! (All rescued dogs must be primarily indoor dogs, never to be excluded to the outdoors only; therefore, dog doors are a huge plus! A crate on-hand would be beneficial for Kevin during a transitional phase to a new place, but eventually he can be weaned away from crating when left unsupervised once deemed suitable). Kevin is neutered, fully vaccinated (including rabies), Front-lined, dewormed, and micro-chipped. If you are interested in Kevin, please contact Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue at: adopt@angelsheartdogrescue.com. The phone number to the rescue is: 626-340-9316. • Shepherd, Corgi
IN SPITE OF HOW HE MAY APPEAR IN PHOTOS, ELLIOTT IS A SMALLER, LOW TO THE GROUND DOG. SEE VIDEO TO GAUGE HIS ACTUAL SIZE! Rescued from the Ramona Animal Shelter as a one-year-old community stray, Elliott falls into the category of one of the BEST dogs that I have had in the rescue (though I suspect that he may be closer to age two) in that he is so well-balanced and well- adjusted around people and also other dogs. He is friendly, sweet, and can occasionally be more active and playful, but mainly likes to chill out near me. He loves to hang out near his person, so make sure there is also a pet bed in your office! Elliott enjoys toys, and chasing, and running around and playing with the other dogs at the rescue (see video) to some degree though he is not extraordinarily playful. He gets very short spurts of energy, then chills and relaxes near his humans. He is very much a Velcro dog. Weighing about 30 lbs., the shelter marked Elliott as an unknown Shepherd mixed with Corgi, because there is NO reason to label every dog on the planet as a pit mix, but my sense is that Elliott is a pit bull mixed with some type of smaller dog, such as a Corgi or Dachshund. Elliott is a GREAT dog – so no stereotyping!) Though some of his photos may not depict it well, Elliott is a total low-rider, and personally, I LOVE these low riding dogs! The reason is because you can get a larger dog feel while still getting a smaller dog, which is really nice. Elliott was passed over at the shelter and I think I know why. People are always looking for these super cute, longer coated, contrastingly different colored dogs, and they want to be able to put their dog in a more definitive breed category. Low riders like Elliott are more of a mystery, and seeing that he is mostly all brown (he may even be a Chocolate Lab mixed with a smaller dog), he may appear less interesting to many who are looking for striking contrast. But what they missed is what a diamond in the rough he is! He is an all-around good dog and personally, I would prefer a stellar personality than anything else. Plus, he IS super cute! And has a happy personality too! Elliott is potty trained (though potty reinforcement is needed in any new environment) and is crate-trained (at the rescue, dogs are crated to eat, sleep, and if I have to leave for a bit) and does exceptionally well, not making a peep when it comes time to be crated or it is bedtime. We have not tested him with kids, but I feel he would be fine. I do not know if he would play with kids, but nothing about him strikes me as worrisome for kids, and cats are a complete unknown. He does well on the leash, but can use a bit more practice to be less meandering and pulling. The home we seek for Elliott is a home with another dog of any age, with a semi-playful young pup, OR, as an only dog in the home. In the rescue pack, there is an array of small dogs, both male and female, and one large female pit bull; therefore, Elliott has mainly been observed around dogs that are smaller than him and he has done exceedingly well. Even though Elliott is dog-social, Elliott is mainly people-oriented. If dogs are playing in the living room, he still opts to sit near me. For example, if I am working at the computer, Elliott will find a pet bed near me and chills with me in my office. We feel that the best fit for Elliott, whether there is another dog in the home or not, would be a home whereby the people are not gone from home for long hours on a daily basis, especially if he is to be the only dog in the home. (All rescued dogs must be primarily indoor dogs, never to be excluded to the outdoors only; therefore, dog doors are a huge plus! A crate on-hand would be beneficial for Elliott during a transitional phase to a new place, but eventually he can be left loose and overall, he does not seem to have a strong need for a crate.) Elliott is neutered, fully vaccinated (including rabies), Front-lined, dewormed, and micro-chipped. If you are interested in Elliott, please contact Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue at: adopt@angelsheartdogrescue.com. The phone number to the rescue is: 626-340-9316. He should top out at 100 pounds when he gets to a healthy weight. Although he is a big strong dog, he is also a big baby! Buster is a very sweet dog. He likes affection but is not needy. He enjoys meeting new people and will sit by your side nicely. He is socializing on a daily basis with different personalities at our rescue dog kennel in South Gate, although he does not need much practice as he has excellent dog social skills. Please provide some information about your home, family and other pets. Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue is a private, foster home based rescue. Though there are some steps that precede meeting a dog, they are quick and expeditious. Thank you! SEE VIDEO ALSO ON THIS PAGE! Dusty is a one-year-old Parson (Jack) Russell Terrier/unknown Terrier mix rescued from the Ramona Animal Shelter. He weighs about 13-15 lbs. Dusty has a very soft wire-haired low shedding coat, (he may even be hypoallergenic), tallish legs and longer body. Both ears do go downward, but when he gets excited, his right ear tends to rise up. He is a smart puppy, picking up the routine quickly, (for example, he learned the dog door right away!). Dusty LOVES other dogs. In the world of dogs, he is very comfortable. He enjoys playing with dogs, wrestling, chasing, playing with toys, etc. He also enjoys running all over the yard. Dusty is crate-trained, and does VERY WELL. He sleeps quietly in his 36 inch wire crate at night, and is crated if I have to leave the house for a bit. (All rescued dogs must be primarily indoor dogs, never to be excluded to the outdoors only; dog doors are a huge plus! A crate on-hand would be beneficial for Dusty during a transitional phase to a new place, but eventually he can be weaned away from crating when left unsupervised once deemed suitable). In the human world, Dusty is shy and timid but has improved since coming to rescue. Though completely submissive towards humans, it is clear that Dusty derives his confidence and comfort from the other dog in the home, and has learned to be more trusting of humans by modeling the other dogs. He is a happy dog that can play and have fun, but can also chill out and relax. He is also a very quiet dog. He now approaches me readily and comes seeking affection or to offer licks and kisses. He also follows me around to see what I am doing, wagging his tail. He does not yet walk on the leash. He will need some time and confidence building but we are confident that he will pick this up by following the other dog’s lead at some point. The home we seek for Dusty is one where the adopters are looking to find a doggie companion and playmate for their already existing young pup. The dog needs to be friendly and accepting of a submissive puppy. Dusty seems to gravitate to smaller dogs; he plays with Sidney, who is between 20 and 22 lbs. (Sidney and he can possibly even be adopted together providing an adopter has had two dogs in the past, and has some dog experience . They play with toys and chase each other and have fun throughout the day!) So if you are seeking a fairly easy to manage, sweet doggie companion for your already existing dog, (but one where you do not mind that he will still need some time and patience to fully come around), please consider Dusty! Note: Please have another dog in your home to express an interest in Dusty! ? Dusty is neutered, fully vaccinated (including rabies), Front-lined, dewormed, and micro-chipped. He has a large white chest and perky ears, he is darling! Bruno is a mature adult dog at 8 years old and 70 lbs. When Bruno was a young puppy he lived at Downtown Dog Rescue when it was just a parking lot and two volunteers. He was a very happy dog who was quickly adopted. Sadly, his owner passed away and he is now back at our kennel. A little older and wiser, Bruno is again looking for his forever home. Bruno now lives at our kennel in South Gate. He loves his girlfriends/volunteers when they visit him and take him for a walk (see video). He is a very sweet boy who will be easy to manage. He does not mind other dogs, but prefers to have his human all to himself! He would do well in most homes with no small children or other pets. Meet Charlotte! She is a one year old Boxer and Pit Bull mix. Charlotte is white with cream colored markings and dark soulful eyes. She currently weighs 45 pounds and is putting on weight daily as she is quite bony. Charlotte was brought to the Downey Shelter by a nice person who found her wandering the streets. We are not sure what Charlotte went through before the shelter. She was severely underweight and confused about the world around her. We brought her to our kennel in South Gate. She is now socializing with dogs and learning to enjoy the human touch. Charlotte is a special dog. She needs someone who will be patient while she learns to be a dog. She will do well in a home with or without dog siblings. She likes dogs and listens to them when they teach her how to play. She is a sweet girl who is more than deserving of a second chance! Meet Peter! Peter is a pit bull mix (possibly mixed with Boxer) who was found wandering the streets of Lancaster, California. When a Good Samaritan approached Peter with half a treat and bowl of water, he went right to them, ate the treat, drank the water and willingly walked with them to their car. He knew he was safe that day and was so happy that he was not wondering the streets anymore. The Good Samaritan took Peter to the vet and found out that he had a microchip. When Peter’s previous owner was contacted, they indicated that they did not want Peter back. Essentially, they had abandoned Peter. Peter knows basic commends (seat, stay, etc.) and he is quick learner. He is house-trained and will let you know if needs to go to the bathroom. Peter loves getting attention, giving kisses and getting a massage. He is a gentle dog with people and loves to be where his people are. Peter loves to go on walks, but he is very strong and is learning not to pull. Peter would do best in an active household as an only dog. He is about age 5 and weighs about 65 lbs. Peter is located in Ontario, California. He is already neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on his vaccinations. He is fully grown at 60 pounds. Bruce has a thick black coat with white markings. He has a short and stout body. He is a doll! Bruce is a very charming boy who loves life. He likes dogs of all kind and would do best in a home with another playful dog. He is well socialized and enjoys rough and tumble style of play. Bruce also knows when its time calm down and relax. He is a dog that needs a routine and a quiet home with low traffic. Bruce is an excellent dog with a confident leader but he will not do well in highly populated, apartment style living. Bruce does well on leash with a leader but does not need the stimulation of passing dogs on leash on a daily basis. Bruce wants to be treated like a dog! He loves long walks and hikes. He enjoys human companionship and enjoys obeying his leader. Bruce is already neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, crate-trained, and good with dogs. No cats please. Courtesy listing! Please contact Stacy by email at luvmypitbulls@gmail.com and not the rescue connected to this page! The best (and preferred) method of communication is by way of e-mail; thank you! Meet Jax, a 1 1/2-year-old gray tabby, who lived patiently at Petsmart for a year waiting to be adopted until a Good Sam felt that a foster home would suit him better for a chance at a real home! He is a well-adjusted boy - the unsettled beginnings of his life did not seem to rattle him at all. Jax is great at entertaining himself but would love to have a cat playmate. He currently lives in a house with two cat-friendly Pit Bulls and does great with them, but does not engage in play with them. He really enjoyed playing with the cats at Petsmart, so we are looking for a home with a feline companion. Jax has a laid back personality most of the time, but becomes a track star at about 9am and 9pm which is short lived. He will seek out affection from time to time and becomes super loving if you walk in the kitchen as he feels you are making him something great to eat. He is great at directing his scratching to his scratcher, and loves to gaze out the windows and dream of the adventures he would have. So if you are looking for a simple, happy boy who can be a bit naughty (but not in the destructive way) - he could be the one! (Jax would do best in a home with former cat owners. If there are children in the house we would ask for older children that understand and are respectful or cats.) Please contact Stacy by email (preferred) at: luvmypitbulls@gmail.com or 626.806.8963 and not the rescue connected to this page!

Meet the stunning looking Morty, who we call Morty-Snorty as he snorts a lot. He walks perfectly on leash and is the type dog you can walk in any metropolitan areas and he is quiet and calm. Morty is 5 years old and weighs 52 pounds, is low to the ground, and is in great shape. He is the type that is not cuddly unless he knows his person very well. He can get very unsure if people push him to pet and hug so is best suited in a one person household that is a low stress environment as a companion dog. He is good with dogs but does not care that much about them, and would be just fine and content as the only dog. He loves to go for walks and tag along for car rides and is a dog that needs a laid back, easy-going lifestyle and hanging out with his person. Morty is already neutered, up-to-date with shots, micro-chipped and house-trained. He is a sweet, special dog that is best suited for a simple, quiet life. His favorite activities are bathing in the sunshine and staring at reflections. He is super friendly with people, good with children. Rudy would rather sit by your side on a patch of grass than be the social butterfly of the neighborhood. In fact, give him a comfy bed and yummy meals and he is satisfied. Rudy currently lives in a foster home with other dogs but he prefers being near people and would ideally be an only dog. He is house-trained, neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped and weighs 70 lbs. SEE VIDEO ALSO ON THIS PAGE! Princess Daisy is a young adult Pit Bull who we rescued from South L.A. Shelter when she was 4 months of age. She would do best in a house with a yard as the only dog where she can exercise running around, lay in the sun and relaxing, and hang out with her owner and live an easy life! She must be a companion dog to the humans, both indoors and out. At three years old she weighs 75 pounds and is fully grown. Princess Daisy is a beautiful dog with perfect eyeliner just like a Geisha! She is very calm and affectionate in the house and loves to lay by your feet and relax and is happy to greet every person that comes around, but will get anxious walking on leash on busy streets with people running/jogging, bicycles and skateboards coming towards her. Princess Daisy needs a confident and patient owner who will continue to work with her being out and about in the big world if that is desired, HOWEVER she would be very happy to be a “house dog” and live an easy life with you in and out of the house and go for car rides which is one of her favorite things to do, and most of all, being close to her person and getting tummy rubs! Are you a person that would enjoy giving this girl a chance to have a great life? She would love to be your one and only and she will be the most loyal and loving friend you will ever have! Princess Daisy is crate-trained, house-broken, spayed, microchipped and has had all shots including rabies and is a very healthy dog.
