This is a courtesy listing for another rescue group. PLEASE READ ENTIRE BIO BEFORE CONTACTING RESCUE. To inquire about this dog, you do not need to press any special buttons on this website. Send a regular e-mail to Janet Cook at: adopt@angelsheartdogrescue.com. Please provide some information about your home, family, other pets, and your dog experience. Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue is a private, foster home based rescue. There is an application process that precedes meeting a dog. I answer emails quickly. Please also check your spam folder for an email reply from the rescue, or provide a phone number whereby you may be reached. Thank you! SEE VIDEO ALSO ON THIS PAGE! Sebastian appears to be either a Poodle/Maltese/Terrier mix, or Terripoo. He is a SUPER CUTE, normally fluffy dog, about the age of two or three. His coat is EXTREMELY soft, and is of the low to no shedding type, and he quite possibly may even be hypoallergenic. He will need professional grooming at least four times a year (when his coat is longer, it is not super curly like a lamb, but more on the straighter and fluffy side, like a Maltese/Terrier, though it is clear to me he is a Poodle mix type). His coat is mostly white with some tannish hues within (he was severely matted, so we had to shave him down to start his coat all over again). Sebastian is not a small prissy white dog, but a more solid guy who is a great size, about 15 lbs. Sebastian is happy, upbeat, playful and bouncy, always enjoying people, and always being near. He enjoys entertaining himself with various toys, and also enjoys playing with people. He has not been destructive AT ALL to anything in the house nor yard. He settles down and chills if I am working at the computer or watching T.V. He loves to cuddle with me up on the bed when I am resting, or watching T.V. He is crate-trained (here at the rescue, dogs are crated to eat, sleep, and when folks are away from home, for structure, primarily) and he is also quite potty-trained (though potty reinforcement is suggested in any new environment). At night, he settles quietly in his crate enjoying his rawhide chew. Sebastian was rescued from the Devore Animal Shelter. According to the shelter, prior to the shelter, Sebastian had been rescued from the streets, immediately given a bath by the people, and somewhere is the newness of it all, reportedly bit a child. There was no other information provided; the people surrendered him to the shelter as an acquired stray from the community. With such limited information, we have no idea what happened; we do not know if Sebastian got freaked at something since he did not know the people, if the child did something to HIM that upset him or scared him; we simply do not have any information about this “incident.” And this unfortunately became Sebastian’s demise at the shelter. If a rescue did not come and save him, he would be killed because he had a bad mark. This is when Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue decided to go and save his life. The minute I got home, Sebastian started running around the yard, happy and free! He approached me straight away, and was sweet, loving, and instantly loved me, his rescuer. To this day, I have never had a problem with Sebastian, in terms of any aggressive behavior towards me. He has been kind, affectionate, sweet, and wonderful. However, it soon became clear to me that Sebastian had a past of being mistreated, whereby he does have some initial defensive reactions towards men in particular, and may take some more extensive time to warm up and completely trust men. So there should probably be a main female handler in the home, initially, to give Sebastian the time to relax and adjust to the man in the home (if that be the case). How wonderful it would be to find a man in the home that would be patient and kind, and give Sebastian time to trust him, while the female in the home was the main handler initially. It is very likely that Sebastian would adjust soon. Sebastian is comfortable around dogs and has occasionally played with them, but typical to his breed type, he cares most about the humans. With the older dogs in my personal pack, (both male and female) he is completely respectful, and shares pet beds with them. However, with another rescue dog here that is a large breed goofy male puppy, with puppy antics and puppy energy, Sebastian attempts to regulate him, is sometimes annoyed by him, but they have learned to live in peace. After much experience working with dogs, I firmly believe that dogs are better off when they have another dog in the home; they seem to normalize each other, and in the long run, are more balanced psychologically, however, Sebastian does not seem to have any real need for other dogs, so he can be placed with another dog in the home, with the right fit, or as an only dog, as long as the humans are not collectively gone from home for long, extended hours on a daily basis (and no, this does not mean people need to be retired). Sebastian seems to have a natural tendency, whenever someone comes to the gate, or stands alongside the fencing, to bark. He feels it is his job to defend his yard and territory. I am working with him to become more responsive to my direction when he gets into these protective states. He instantly approaches all females now, when they come to my home, but I allow HIM to approach THEM, in a strategic manner; I still do not see that he is a dog that any old stranger can just walk up to and instantly touch. With men, he has a natural tendency to initially distrust, so he needs a lot more practice with men. Sebastian will benefit from a lot more socialization, as well as formal training, with a more experienced dog handler. In his own (adoptive) home, Sebastian should eventually be just like any other dog, happy and loving, able to be corrected and managed, just as I have been able to do here at the rescue. Sebastian is a joy for this rescuer to have around. He brings such an upbeat, happy energy. If I say, “Time to eat” he starts doing zoomies all over the yard. Sometimes, I just pick him up and put him in the crate, before saying “Time to eat” if I do not have time for him to be so emotionally demonstrative at feeding time, LOL. Sebastian is a very loving, sweet, and affectionate dog. He walks well on the leash, with more practice needed, and rides well in the car. He has been a dog that has been comfortable with me from day one. I am seeking adopters who consider themselves to be more experienced with handling dogs, to include a structured training class at some post adoption point. Sebastian is not suggested for a first time dog owner, but I do consider him to be very adoptable to the right people who can help him to continue to grow and develop into a novel canine citizen. He may always have a slight defensiveness with men, due to his history, but I feel that he can do well given the right adoptive situation. I seek people who will not give him a one or two strikes out policy if he were to make a mistake, and not make him out to be a bad dog to give up on him; i.e., people who are willing to understand him and continue to be patient with him, and also be able to attend to his regular grooming needs. NOTE: We only adopt dogs as primarily INDOOR dogs. Dogs can go outside to play, potty, to sun themselves at will, but should never be excluded to an outside area. We really appreciate when people take the time to set house manners and boundaries, instead of always having dogs outside. You do not need to give a dog the run of the entire house, and a crate is good for a transitional phase. Doggie doors are a plus but not required. Sebastian is neutered, fully vaccinated (including rabies), Front-lined, dewormed, and micro-chipped. If you are interested in discussing Sebastian for a possible adoption, please contact Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue at: and provide the information requested in the first paragraph of this Bio. The phone number to the rescue is: 626-340-9316. There is no need to phone the rescue unless you do not receive a response from your email. • German Shepherd Dog, Husky

This is a courtesy listing for another rescue group. PLEASE READ complete written Bio before contacting Rescue. To inquire about this dog, you do not need to press any special buttons on this website. Send a regular e-mail to Janet Cook at: adopt@angelsheartdogrescue.com. Please provide some information about your home, family, and other pets. Trevor is a happy, loving and affectionate, playful, sweet, and sometimes goofy one-year-old German shepherd/Husky mix rescued from the Devore Animal Shelter. He loves life and is full of happiness and love for everyone. He weighs about 50 lbs. and is still very much a puppy. He longs to play with the other dogs here, but most are all older, and have little interest in playing. At times his puppy antics have been a bit annoying to the other dogs, but generally, he has gotten along well in the pack. He loves playing with various toys, entertaining himself (though he has a preference for the stuffed type, and then mainly wants to rip them up eventually?. I have tried to redirect him to some of the harder, more durable chewing type toys). His grooming needs are regular brushing, to reduce shedding and the occasional bath. Trevor is potty trained (however, potty reinforcement is recommended in any new environment). He is crate-trained (here at the rescue, dogs are crated to eat, sleep, and if I am away from home for a bit, mainly for structure and boundaries). Trevor is not yet ready to be left non-crated; i.e., not fully trusted to not get into something that he is not supposed to get into. The 42 inch wire crate works VERY well for Trevor at this time, and should be continued in an adoptive home, when no one is around to supervise him, until such time that Trevor can be left unsupervised outside of the crate. We like to use prong collars for our larger dogs, because we want to get them walking well on the leash right away. This is a useful tool and not “mean” when used properly. It represents the mama dog picking up the pups by way of the mouth to bring them back into the fold, and is a naturally occurring understood correction in the brain of the dog. Trevor was in a foster home for three days where the Foster mom had the ability to walk him (I have a health condition) and also see him in a different light. Trevor did well walking on the leash, and this foster home also had kittens, and Trevor was sweet and loving to the kittens, giving them kisses. Trevor has traveled in the car, but he does get anxious with car rides, which has been demonstrated by some excess salivation during the drive; other than this, he handles the drive appropriately. If I am lying down, working at the computer, or watching T.V., Trevor finds a place near me to chill and be near (he is VERY much a Velcro dog). However, if I get up and walk around, Trevor shadows me constantly, always wondering with fascination what I am doing, or occasionally attempting to be playful. I have taught him that there is an imaginary line into the kitchen that he cannot cross, and he learned right away to respect that, and also, he is not allowed to follow me into the bathroom, or other certain rooms. Trevor wants to please, and he seems to be smart and learns well, though he still has to be reminded a lot, again, due to him still being a puppy. He has also learned to chase the ball and bring it back to me. In short, Trever does quite well overall, but as most young dogs do, needs ongoing structure and boundaries training, and also seems to enjoy being trained. Overall, Trevor is a very human-oriented, dog-oriented, friendly pup who being a German shepherd type, you can tell that he really wants a job to do, even if that job is taking a daily walk, and learning new things (German Shepherd types RELISH in training – it gives them the proper mental stimulation and consequently, mental satisfaction – one does not need to run the heck out of any young dog, as many confusingly think, or be exercised constantly. You would be surprised how just a few structured things daily can make all the difference in the world to keep most young dogs happy and satisfied). The home I seek for Trevor, that I believe will fit him best, is with people who will give him regular structured walks (or hikes), or some other type of ongoing activity, which will give him a purpose and something to do, and also provide him with some formal training because he wants that, and dogs of this breed type relish in that. I personally feel that he would be happiest and do best in a home that has another dog that would be willing to play with him, and also offer him some canine companionship (and thus possibly reducing the need for other types of tasks). Trevor LONGS for another dog to play with him, and as long as the other dog in the home is not annoyed by Trevor wanting to play, could even have a smaller canine friend. The home should be one where collectively, folks are not gone from home for long, extended hours on a daily basis (and no, this does not mean you need to be retired). NOTE: We only adopt dogs as primarily INDOOR dogs no matter the size, or shedding. Dogs can go outside to play, potty, at will, but should never be excluded to an outside area. We really appreciate when people take the time to set house manners and boundaries, instead of putting dogs outside. You do not need to give a dog the run of the entire house, (you can put up a tall baby gate, close off room doors) and a crate is good for a transitional phase. Trevor is neutered, fully vaccinated (including rabies), Front-lined, dewormed, micro-chipped, and vetted. If you are interested in Trevor, please contact Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue at: adopt@angelsheartdogrescue.com. The phone number to the rescue is: 626-340-9316. Jax is a sensitive soul looking for a human who understands he is a little socially awkward, yet has a very loving side. Jax is part playful, part sleepyhead, part affectionate, and a part independent. He will say hello in the morning, and go about his playing independently, taking a nap or watching out the window. He has learned how to entertain himself quite well. If you are looking for a cat that is independent, yet would love to play with his human in the evening and relax by your side, he may be the one for you. Jax does not really understand how to socialize with other cats. Although he currently lives in a home with 2 senior pit bulls and another foster cat, his foster feels he would prefer to be the only cat in his adoptive home. We feel the best home for Jax would be a calm and quiet adult home where Jax can be adored as the only pet. WILL CONSIDER FOSTER TO ADOPT, OR FOSTER HOME UNTIL ADOPTED. He has a large white chest and perky ears; he's darling. Bruno is a mature adult dog at 8 years old. When Bruno was a young puppy he lived at Downtown Dog Rescue when it was just a parking lot and two volunteers. He was a very happy dog who was quickly adopted. Sadly, his owner passed away and he is back at our kennel. A little older and wiser, he is again looking for a home. Bruno lives at our kennel in South Gate. He came back to us a little out of shape, too many treats, plus, he went through ACL surgery. Because of the extra pressure this created on his opposite leg, Bruno has to take it easy. No long hikes or dog parks for this guy. He needs a simple life with someone to love who will give him some snuggles, short walks and a super soft bed. He is a very sweet boy who will be easy to manage. He does not mind other dogs but prefers to have his human all to himself! He would do well in most homes with no small children or other pets. Bruno lived with a dog sibling most his life, but now that he is older he wants to relax and be the only dog. We cannot blame him! Bruno would love some visitors, come meet him at our kennel in South Gate! Meet Peter! Peter is a pit bull mix (possibly mixed with Boxer) who was found wandering the streets of Lancaster, California. When a Good Samaritan approached Peter with half a treat and bowl of water, he went right to them, ate the treat, drank the water and willingly walked with them to their car. He knew he was safe that day and was so happy that he was not wondering the streets anymore. The Good Samaritan took Peter to the vet and found out that he had a microchip. When Peter’s previous owner was contacted, they indicated that they did not want Peter back. Essentially, they had abandoned Peter. Peter knows basic commends (seat, stay, etc.) and he is quick learner. He is house-trained and will let you know if needs to go to the bathroom. Peter loves getting attention, giving kisses and getting a massage. He is a gentle dog with people and loves to be where his people are. Peter loves to go on walks, but he is very strong and is learning not to pull. Peter would do best in an active household as an only dog. He is about age 5 and weighs about 65 lbs. Peter is located in Ontario, California. He is already neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on his vaccinations. Meet the stunning looking Morty, who we call Morty-Snorty as he snorts a lot. He walks perfectly on leash and is the type dog you can walk in any metropolitan areas and he is quiet and calm. Morty is 5 years old and weighs 52 pounds, is low to the ground, and is in great shape. He is the type that is not cuddly unless he knows his person very well. He can get very unsure if people push him to pet and hug so is best suited in a one person household that is a low stress environment as a companion dog. He is good with dogs but does not care that much about them, and would be just fine and content as the only dog. He loves to go for walks and tag along for car rides and is a dog that needs a laid back, easy-going lifestyle and hanging out with his person. Morty is already neutered, up-to-date with shots, micro-chipped and house-trained. SEE VIDEO ALSO ON THIS PAGE! Princess Daisy is a young adult Pit Bull who we rescued from South L.A. Shelter when she was 4 months of age. She would do best in a house with a yard as the only dog where she can exercise running around, lay in the sun and relaxing, and hang out with her owner and live an easy life! She must be a companion dog to the humans, both indoors and out. At three years old she weighs 75 pounds and is fully grown. Princess Daisy is a beautiful dog with perfect eyeliner just like a Geisha! She is very calm and affectionate in the house and loves to lay by your feet and relax and is happy to greet every person that comes around, but will get anxious walking on leash on busy streets with people running/jogging, bicycles and skateboards coming towards her. Princess Daisy needs a confident and patient owner who will continue to work with her being out and about in the big world if that is desired, HOWEVER she would be very happy to be a “house dog” and live an easy life with you in and out of the house and go for car rides which is one of her favorite things to do, and most of all, being close to her person and getting tummy rubs! Are you a person that would enjoy giving this girl a chance to have a great life? She would love to be your one and only and she will be the most loyal and loving friend you will ever have! Princess Daisy is crate-trained, house-broken, spayed, microchipped and has had all shots including rabies and is a very healthy dog.
