She is a sturdy gal at 62 pounds. Trixie has classic good looks and a killer smile! She came into our rescue because her owner was convicted of animal cruelty over 5 years ago. Because she is a survivor of animal cruelty, she needs a special home. She needs a consistent routine and someone who is patient. Trixie will do best with someone who is experienced with large powerful dogs. Although Trixie has never shown negative behavior towards children, we do not recommend children or cats. She is not dog aggressive but prefers her own space. Trixie's wonderful qualities are once she trusts you; she loves you forever and ever. Smart and funny, she still has a lot of life and a lot of love to give a very special person. Could you be her special person? Trixie is living at the Downtown Dog Rescue kennel in South Gate and she would love a visitor! Come meet Trixie! Trixie is already spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, crate-trained, house-trained, and good with people. He is fully grown at 60 pounds. Bruce has a thick black coat with white markings. He has a short and stout body. He is a doll! Bruce is a very charming boy who loves life. He likes dogs of all kind and would do best in a home with another playful dog. He is well socialized and enjoys rough and tumble style of play. Bruce also knows when its time calm down and relax. He is a dog that needs a routine and a quiet home with low traffic. Bruce is an excellent dog with a confident leader but he will not do well in highly populated, apartment style living. Courtesy listing! Please contact Stacy by email at luvmypitbulls@gmail.com and not the rescue connected to this page! The best (and preferred) method of communication is by way of e-mail; thank you! Meet Jax, a 1 1/2-year-old gray tabby, who lived patiently at Petsmart for a year waiting to be adopted until a Good Sam felt that a foster home would suit him better for a chance at a real home! He is a well-adjusted boy - the unsettled beginnings of his life did not seem to rattle him at all. Jax is great at entertaining himself but would love to have a cat playmate. He currently lives in a house with two cat-friendly Pit Bulls and does great with them, but does not engage in play with them. He really enjoyed playing with the cats at Petsmart, so we are looking for a home with a feline companion. Jax has a laid back personality most of the time, but becomes a track star at about 9am and 9pm which is short lived. He will seek out affection from time to time and becomes super loving if you walk in the kitchen as he feels you are making him something great to eat. He is great at directing his scratching to his scratcher, and loves to gaze out the windows and dream of the adventures he would have. So if you are looking for a simple, happy boy who can be a bit naughty (but not in the destructive way) - he could be the one! (Jax would do best in a home with former cat owners. If there are children in the house we would ask for older children that understand and are respectful or cats.) Please contact Stacy by email (preferred) at: luvmypitbulls@gmail.com or 626.806.8963 and not the rescue connected to this page!

She is good with all dogs and does very well when socializing. Faith is out playing and relaxing with many dogs on a daily basis. She lives at the Downtown Dog Rescue kennel. • West Highland White Terrier Westie, Schnauzer
  • Up-to-date with routine shots
  • Spayed/Neutered
This is a courtesy listing for another rescue group. Please read dog’s entire written bio before contacting rescue. To inquire about this dog, you do not need to press any special buttons on this website. Send a regular e-mail to Janet Cook at: adopt@angelsheartdogrescue.com. Please provide some information about your home, family and other pets. Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue is a private, foster home based rescue. Though there are some steps that precede meeting a dog, they are quick and expeditious. Thank you! SEE VIDEO ALSO ON THIS PAGE! Sidney is a 3-year-old male West Highland Terrier/Unknown Terrier/Schnauzer mix who was rescued from the Devore Animal Shelter. He is mostly cream colored, with some tan markings throughout his coat. He is a low to no shedding dog, and may even be hypoallergenic. His coat does not require professional grooming; he is wash and wear, with maybe a bit of brushing now and then and some clipping around his eyes so he can see. Though he is a wire-haired terrier, his coat is actually quite soft. He is one of those cute, shaggy dogs! Being 20 lbs. he is a GREAT size; he is still technically a small dog, but with a medium-sized dog feel. Sidney is a sweet and loving, affectionate, good-natured happy dog that loves to hang with his people. He is a Velcro dog, and can also go off to explore and play (with another dog) but keeps me in his sights. He enjoys various toys, and can play with an array of toys by himself, but much prefers playing with other dogs, especially chase, wrestle, and tug-of-war. When he is not playing with the other dogs, he can play ball with the humans (he knows how to retrieve the ball and bring it back to you!). He has been exposed to multiple dogs, big and small, and does well. Sidney can even be a playmate to a larger dog, as long as that dog knows how to be nice to smaller dogs. He is crate-trained (at the rescue, dogs are crated to eat, sleep, and if I have to leave for a bit) and all that I have to do is point to the open door of the crate and he goes right in. Sidney rides well in the car and is not destructive in the house, though he does have some traits that are inherent to terriers. Sidney is responsive to instruction and redirection (he seeks to please his person) but could benefit from a basic training class to help him learn more commands. He is quite potty-trained; (however potty reinforcement and observation is always good in any new environment) and masters the doggie door. He does best with some structure, and knowing that his humans are in charge, seeking his direction from them. He can be a bit nervous when meeting complete strangers, but warms up quickly under his leader’s guidance. Sidney is a dog that would become bored if he were asked to be a lazy dog that mainly lies around the house all day. He gets a lot of his needs met by being with the other dogs here at the rescue. He is a more active, fun dog that loves to play with other dogs. Sidney is fine with cats, as long as they are the types that unaffected by the presence of a dog in the home and are willing to stand there to let Sidney smell and meet them, and not run away, ensuing a chase. He has a very slight issue with separation, but please do not misunderstand; it is not like people cannot leave. A crate can be used to help during a transitional phase to a new environment. After an adjustment period to a new place is over, he should be able to be left loose with the other dogs inside the home, or with outdoor access by way of a doggie door, as long as the fencing is secure (he cannot be excluded to only the outdoors). He does very well walking on the leash when the handler is in control of the walk and has become quite practiced in that regard. Sidney can chase birds and lizards (typical terrier) and can occasionally get barky from excitement (but not over the top). The home we seek for Sidney is a home with another dog social, welcoming dog who also enjoys PLAYING, and who will be his friend and playmate, as well as people who are not collectively gone for long, extended hours on a daily basis. He enjoys other dogs immensely, and seems to need the play outlet and brain stimulation of a canine pal. A conventional yard is a must. A doggie door is a huge plus! An appropriate sized wire crate (purchased or borrowed) will be required for Sidney’s adoption to help support the transitional period to a brand new setting, mainly, when folks are away from home, during the initial stages. Sidney is neutered, fully vaccinated (including rabies), Front-lined, dewormed, and micro-chipped. If you are interested in Sidney, please contact Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue at: adopt@angelsheartdogrescue.com. The phone number to the rescue is: 626-340-9316. There is no need to phone the rescue until you have first submitted an interest via e-mail. Meet Vicky! Vicky is a 9-year-old Pit Bull mix. She is fully grown at 55 pounds. Vicky was turned in to the South LA Shelter when she was found on the street. We know that she lived with a family at one time as she has excellent manners and seems to be house-trained. Vicky loves humans, and was a volunteer favorite at the shelter. She helped many new dogs that came into the shelter while she was there; because she is dog social, friendly, and an all-around stable dog! We believe she would do well with kids and possibly cats. Vicky will thrive in most home situations. She can live as the only dog or with friends! Vicky is well past the puppy stage but is a very young 9-year-old. She loves to play but also settles down nicely in her crate. Come meet this sweet girl at our kennel in South Gate! Ladybug was a stray dog found scared and hiding under a container trashcan. After a week of feeding her fresh cooked chicken, her original foster began to gain her trust. As her foster was driving away that day, Ladybug came chasing after the car. Her foster stopped the car, opened the door, made her some space, left the car door open and walked away. She jumped into the car and her journey to find the perfect home began. Ladybug is 57-pound, 5-year-old, smaller Staffordshire female, who has spent the two years being trained to the point where she is excellent with people and dogs that she is familiar with (i.e. other dogs that she lives with). She is uncomfortable around dogs she does not know and therefore, introduction to new dogs need to be done slowly over time. She is micro-chipped, up-to-date with shots including rabies, spayed and completely healthy. In 2013, at age two-and-a-half, she was adopted out to a wonderful adopter. However, the adopter has fallen into hard times and can no longer care for her. When she was with this adopter, her role was to be a family pet. Ladybug is now back in her original foster home and would be a wonderful addition to the right family. She needs to find a home that understands the importance of continuing her training. She is extremely sweet to her family, very loyal, knows her commands, such as Sit, Down, and Stay, and is completely crate-trained. She has been professionally trained to walk on a leash. Come meet this beautiful and wonderful little Ladybug! If you are interested in this sweet and amazing girl, contact Irene at dkdane2@gmail.com or call 310-766-5665.

SEE VIDEO ALSO ON THIS PAGE! Ganoush was a mess when we met him at the Downey shelter. He had scabs all over his head and ears and his right leg had two large wounds. We had no idea how he got like that but we did not care – you could just tell he needed someone to help him. This dog prefers the company of humans. He gives great kisses and leans up against you, mostly for reassurance. He is very tentative….almost like he is afraid to get too close too quickly. But once he does, he is ready for loving. Ganoush has few social skills. He does not know how to approach a dog, does not know how to play and definitely has no idea what to do with a toy. He was probably pretty lonely until he joined Dawg Squad. Our boy Popeye has taken him under his wing and is helping him to learn how to interact. Give Ganoush a chance…..this is the kind of dog that makes your heart melt and makes you proud to help him figure out the world. Ganoush is already neutered, up-to-date on shots, micro-chipped, good with dogs, good with kids, and good with cats. He is age three and probably about 63-65 lbs. SEE VIDEO ALSO ON THIS PAGE! Courtesy Listing! Please contact owner directly! Biscuit is an 8-year-old Pit Bull with a great heart and the spirit of a much younger dog. He is well-trained, has medium energy level, is affectionate, house-broken and despite his large, 80-pound frame, truly believes that he is a lap dog. He has no health issues, loves to play fetch, a great hiking buddy, and is always down for a lazy day on the couch. He is easy in the fact that he does not bark a lot or need a ton of exercise, listens really well and responds to commands and has a really sweet demeanor. He is friendly and curious with strangers, always accepting to be petted. He is good with kids but due to his size would be better suited in a home with older children and not toddlers. His owner had so many experiences with people who are not into pit bulls who meet him and change their minds. He loves flopping in bed and being a big teddy bear. The best fit for him at this point in his life is to live in a single dog home. While he is not aggressive with other dogs he has had some problems in the past with one of the other dogs in his home. With a watchful eye and a lot of love he is an easy dog to care for, and a wonderful companion. Please contact his owner Dan directly for more information and to set up a meeting with this great boy. He is solidly built at 8 pounds, a light yellow tan with some white around his face. The vet thinks he is around 4 years old. He has been fixed and his shots are current. He has a very sweet serious nature and is always following either me or my hubby around. Hubby says he is needy. I say he is affectionate. He insists on sleeping between us, touching both of us at the same time, same on the couch. He has an endearing face and loves to be petted. He did not seem to be trained, but he now uses the doggie door to "go" on his own, and will also respond to commands to "go" when I take him outside. He plays well with other dogs and gets along with the cat. Joe is a Velcro dog, and he craves human company. He would do well with someone who is home a lot of the time. He has the temperament to fit in well with someone who wants a dog that can go into the workplace with them. Joe also does well with children. He is a great comfort companion. He has a peaceful presence and is happy to cuddle or just be in close contact on a couch or chair. Joe is not completely quiet. He has a sharp bark he uses to alert me of the presence of intruders. On sunny days when I am busy, Joe goes out in the back yard and basks in the sunshine. He is a pleasure to have around. Peepers would be medium to low energy, loves riding in the car, is a dog that would need a couple of walks a day and would not need hikes, dog parks, or dog beaches. She is happy with a quiet life, but also happy to be active with you should you want to go for a hike or do something fun. In other words, she is simply happy to hang out and be with her person and tag along should the spirit kick in! Other positive points with a dog that is an adult, she is house-trained, NOT destructive, so you could leave her alone at home as an outdoor dog during the day and not need to worry about barking or coming home to mess. She loves people, but she is energetic and need supervision around small children as she gets excited and jumps. Cinnamon is currently boarding at Blue Dog Ranch where she gets training in a structured home environment, and is being socialized with other dogs and does great around calm, confident dogs. Pit Bull personalities are energetic, loyal, intelligent, fun loving, and affectionate. Because of the breed’s undeserved negative media image, Pit Bulls require intelligent, responsible, and dedicated leadership. French Mastiffs have a good and calm temperament. They are extremely loyal, patient and devoted to their family. If you are interested in meeting Cinnamon, please contact Andrea at: firestartermusic@gmail.com or call 323.527.7796.

SEE VIDEO ALSO ON THIS PAGE! Princess Daisy is a young adult Pit Bull who we rescued from South L.A. Shelter when she was 4 months of age. She would do best in a house with a yard as the only dog where she can exercise running around, lay in the sun and relaxing, and hang out with her owner and live an easy life! She must be a companion dog to the humans, both indoors and out. At three years old she weighs 75 pounds and is fully grown. Princess Daisy is a beautiful dog with perfect eyeliner just like a Geisha! She is very calm and affectionate in the house and loves to lay by your feet and relax and is happy to greet every person that comes around, but will get anxious walking on leash on busy streets with people running/jogging, bicycles and skateboards coming towards her. Princess Daisy needs a confident and patient owner who will continue to work with her being out and about in the big world if that is desired, HOWEVER she would be very happy to be a “house dog” and live an easy life with you in and out of the house and go for car rides which is one of her favorite things to do, and most of all, being close to her person and getting tummy rubs! Are you a person that would enjoy giving this girl a chance to have a great life? She would love to be your one and only and she will be the most loyal and loving friend you will ever have! Princess Daisy is crate-trained, house-broken, spayed, microchipped and has had all shots including rabies and is a very healthy dog.
