She is a 6 month puppy with a lot of energy which is typical for a youngster. Jasmine is smart, loves people and dogs, and plays up a storm. She runs like the wind (see her video) and loves water. She is six months old and weighs 32 pounds now and will end up around 50 pounds fully grown. Jasmine has a slender shepherd-type body, short hair and of course the stunning blue eyes from her husky blood lines. She will need an active owner, someone who enjoys working with their dog and being out and about. Jasmine lives in a foster home with several other dogs and is crate-trained, house-trained, and is practicing leash walking and learning not to get too excited greeting people. This is a wonderful young dog with all the potential to mature to a fantastic doggie companion. Jasmine is already spayed, up-to-date with shots, house-trained, good with dogs and good with kids. For more information and to learn about the application process with this young beauty, please contact Mia via email at: miagyzander@me.com

She has an infectious smile and a shiny blue coat with a white chest. She has recently lost some weight and is feeling really good so do not tell her she is not a cover model! Delilah weighs about 60 pounds and is 6 years old. One of the great perks about adult pit bulls once they are a bit older, their personalities are set and they are no longer a mystery as to how their genetics will play out, as with a puppy or one-year-old. They are not going to grow up to be a concern. What you see is what you get, and in Delilah, that is a really great dog! Delilah is a blue and white Pit Bull mix that is low to the ground. She loves her simple life at the Downtown Dog Rescue kennel but loves people even more and cannot wait for her person to come and find her. She is easy to please. She loves to cuddle! She spends most of her days lounging around in the sun and enjoys her walks. She goes hiking with a big group of dogs on the weekend and loves being out and about and behaves well on leash. Delilah has lived with dog siblings in the past, but we have noticed she would rather have her human all to herself. She is not dog aggressive at all, but is indifferent to other dogs just like many other true divas, and prefers to be the only dog and no cats. Delilah would be in heaven with a plush bed, taking it easy with her human and going for some walks; can you satisfy the diva’s simple needs? She is a great and easy going girl with lots of love to give. Come meet her at our kennel in South Gate! To view video otherwise, paste this link: https://youtu.be/qyQk94g4b4w in your address bar on top. Thank you! Hi my name is Lily, and I am a 9 month old pit pup. I had a very rough start at the beginning of my life but now I am a happy playful girl that weighs about 50 pounds and is almost fully grown. I get along with all dogs from Chihuahuas to Shepherds. I love children too. I am just happy go lucky. I listen well and mind my manners. I may only have one eye but that does not stop me, it just makes me more charming. People always stop us on walks and want to meet me. I get a lot of fun attention because I am so cute. I do also have one more important issue. I am a dripper. I needed (and had) bladder surgery, but there was only a 50% chance it would take and it did not. I still drip a little constantly. At the foster home, we have our own doggie room so our foster mommy just puts down a blanket over the bed so it is not a problem, plus we are outside playing much of the time. I can also wear a diaper, so that I am able to be in other parts of the house more readily. I am hoping to find that special someone who would like to participate in the rescue movement and take on a rescue project like me. In return I will love you forever and fill your home with happiness, laughter, and tons of kisses. Everyone tells me I am their favorite. Please watch my heart warming video and help me have a chance at a forever home. I am already spayed, up to date with shots, good with kids, and good with dogs. She is a 4 year old Pit Bull mix. She has a light brown/tan colored coat with dark rimmed eyes. Though her photos are a bit deceiving in that she might appear larger in the photos, Fergie is full grown at 30 lbs., a really great size! She is a wiggly pocket pit! Fergie is a loveable girl who enjoys time with her humans. She came to us from the South LA Shelter. One of the great perks about pit mixes once they are a bit older, their personalities are set and they are no longer a mystery as to how their genetics will play out, as with a puppy or one-year-old. So what you see is what you get, and in Fergie, that is a really great dog! Fergie most likely spent the last few years having puppies. She is now grateful to be with us at Downtown Dog Rescue and has shown nothing but a sweet personality. She likes other dogs and plays nicely. She is a submissive girl who would do well living with another dog or cat! She will do well with a gentle dog as Fergie can be on the shy side. Come meet her at the Downtown Dog Rescue kennel in South Gate! Fergie is already spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, good with dogs, cats unknown, and good with kids. Courtesy listing! Please contact Shyreen at shy@dogonfun.net or call 626.339.1354 and not the rescue group listed on this page! SEE VIDEO ALSO ON THIS PAGE! Layla is a 5-year- old either pure-bred Boxer, or Boxer mix (she is possibly mixed with American Bulldog) who melted the heart of her foster mom when she saw her at the shelter. She weighs approximately 75 lbs. Layla was turned into the shelter by her family, who decided that having a human baby trumped keeping Layla. Confused by the sudden change and loss of her family, Layla became very depressed in the shelter. After being in the shelter for a year and losing a tremendous amount of weight, she would just lay in the dirt completely shut down. Fortunately for Layla, her foster mom saw what a wonderful dog Layla could be and pulled her from the shelter and brought her to her boarding kennel to help her find her forever home. Since Layla was sprung from the shelter, she has gained weight and is a beautiful girl that has become more balanced. Sometimes she can be a bit shy at first, but once she trusts you, be prepared to be overloaded with love and kisses. Layla has completed full obedience training, is crate-trained, and knows how to use the dog door. Her favorite things are sun-bathing, playing fetch, and chasing any critter that will run. Layla would make a great running/hiking partner and has a perfect pace. She is always ready to jump in the car to go out for an adventure. The home we are seeking for Layla is one with an owner who is experienced with large dog breeds. She would do best with a confident leader. On walks, Layla does wonderfully on leash; however, she needs to feel that she can trust her human to be balanced enough to handle any situation or she will become protective. If she thinks you are weak and cannot protect her, she will be happy to lunge at a dog to keep you safe. Layla is a great girl and her exuberant personality definitely shines through. She has the true boxer happy, ready to go personality. If you are looking for a big, bold, beautiful girl to go on adventures and lounge around the house with you, we would love to hear from you. If you are interested in discussing Layla, please contact Shyreen at shy@dogonfun.net or call 626.339.1354 and not the rescue group listed on this page!

She is a mix of Whippet and Pit Bull. She has a brown and black brindle coat with a white chest. She is a fully grown young adult at 2 years old and only 35 pounds. Queenie is originally from the South L.A. shelter but then spent many months kenneled with little time out to socialize with humans and exposure to the outside world. She was understandably very frightened when she came to our rescue. Now in a foster home, Queenie is able to show us the dog she really is! She is very loving and enjoys her time with her human. Queenie loves to play with her foster brother who chases her around the yard. She also lives with 2 cats that she respects and does not chase. She is fully house-trained and crate-trained. She is learning how to meet new people. Queenie needs someone who will be patient with her and understand she needs some time to adjust. Come meet this sweet girl at our kennel in South Gate! Princess came to Downtown Dog Rescue when her owner could no longer care for her. She is a sweet, loving little girl. She is quiet and not needy. Princess is used to traveling around in a carrier and would make a lovely lap dog! She will not ask for much, only a little comfort and lots of snuggles. She would do well in a home with or without dogs. She may be fine with cats but that is an unknown. We have not tested her with kids. He has a large white chest and perky ears; he's darling. Bruno is a mature adult dog at 8 years old. When Bruno was a young puppy he lived at Downtown Dog Rescue when it was just a parking lot and two volunteers. He was a very happy dog who was quickly adopted. Sadly, his owner passed away and he is back at our kennel. A little older and wiser, he is again looking for a home. Bruno lives at our kennel in South Gate. He came back to us a little out of shape, too many treats, plus, he went through ACL surgery. Because of the extra pressure this created on his opposite leg, Bruno has to take it easy. No long hikes or dog parks for this guy. He needs a simple life with someone to love who will give him some snuggles, short walks and a super soft bed. He is a very sweet boy who will be easy to manage. He does not mind other dogs but prefers to have his human all to himself! He would do well in most homes with no small children or other pets. Bruno lived with a dog sibling most his life, but now that he is older he wants to relax and be the only dog. We cannot blame him! She is a one-year-old Pit Bull/American Bulldog mix. Charlotte is white with cream-colored markings, dark soulful eyes, and weighs about 65 lbs. Charlotte was brought to the Downey Shelter by a nice person who found her wandering the streets. We are not sure what Charlotte went through before the shelter, but she was severely underweight and confused about the world around her. We brought her to our kennel in South Gate where she learned how to socialize with dogs and to enjoy human touch. Charlotte has made incredible progress since we met her at the shelter. It has been amazing to watch her transform into a happy, loving dog. Currently, she is living in a foster home with another dog. She is very dog social and loves to play with her foster brother and especially her neighbor canine friend, Sparkles. Charlotte is crate-trained and has learned how to sit, fetch and use the doggie door. Some of her favorite things are food, her Kong and basketball, kiddie-pool time, playing fetch, cuddles and belly rubs. She will do well in a home with or without dog siblings. Meet Peter! Peter is a pit bull mix (possibly mixed with Boxer) who was found wandering the streets of Lancaster, California. When a Good Samaritan approached Peter with half a treat and bowl of water, he went right to them, ate the treat, drank the water and willingly walked with them to their car. He knew he was safe that day and was so happy that he was not wondering the streets anymore. The Good Samaritan took Peter to the vet and found out that he had a microchip. When Peter’s previous owner was contacted, they indicated that they did not want Peter back. Essentially, they had abandoned Peter. Peter knows basic commends (seat, stay, etc.) and he is quick learner. He is house-trained and will let you know if needs to go to the bathroom. Peter loves getting attention, giving kisses and getting a massage. He is a gentle dog with people and loves to be where his people are. Peter loves to go on walks, but he is very strong and is learning not to pull. Peter would do best in an active household as an only dog. He is about age 5 and weighs about 65 lbs. Peter is located in Ontario, California. He is already neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on his vaccinations. Meet Jax, a 1 1/2-year-old gray tabby, who lived patiently at Petsmart for a year waiting to be adopted until a Good Sam felt that a foster home would suit him better for a chance at a real home! He is a well-adjusted boy - the unsettled beginnings of his life did not seem to rattle him at all. Jax is great at entertaining himself but would love to have a cat playmate. He currently lives in a house with two cat-friendly Pit Bulls and does great with them, but does not engage in play with them. He really enjoyed playing with the cats at Petsmart, so we are looking for a home with a feline companion. Jax has a laid back personality most of the time, but becomes a track star at about 9am and 9pm which is short lived. He will seek out affection from time to time and becomes super loving if you walk in the kitchen as he feels you are making him something great to eat. He is great at directing his scratching to his scratcher, and loves to gaze out the windows and dream of the adventures he would have. So if you are looking for a simple, happy boy who can be a bit naughty (but not in the destructive way) - he could be the one! (Jax would do best in a home with former cat owners. If there are children in the house we would ask for older children that understand and are respectful or cats.) Morty is 5 years old and weighs 52 pounds, is low to the ground, and is in great shape. He is the type that is not cuddly unless he knows his person very well. He can get very unsure if people push him to pet and hug so is best suited in a one person household that is a low stress environment as a companion dog. He is good with dogs but does not care that much about them, and would be just fine and content as the only dog. He is a sweet, special dog that is best suited for a simple, quiet life. His favorite activities are bathing in the sunshine and staring at reflections. He is super friendly with people, good with children. Rudy would rather sit by your side on a patch of grass than be the social butterfly of the neighborhood. In fact, give him a comfy bed and yummy meals and he is satisfied. Rudy currently lives in a foster home with other dogs but he prefers being near people and would ideally be an only dog. He is house-trained, neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped and weighs 70 lbs. If you lead a simple life and are looking for the same in a dog, please call us at 818-407-4145 or e-mail adopt@downtowndogrescue.org or fill out our questionnaire at www.downtowndogrescue.org to meet Rudy.

SEE VIDEO ALSO ON THIS PAGE! Princess Daisy is a young adult Pit Bull who we rescued from South L.A. Shelter when she was 4 months of age. She would do best in a house with a yard as the only dog where she can exercise running around, lay in the sun and relaxing, and hang out with her owner and live an easy life! She must be a companion dog to the humans, both indoors and out. At three years old she weighs 75 pounds and is fully grown. Princess Daisy is a beautiful dog with perfect eyeliner just like a Geisha! She is very calm and affectionate in the house and loves to lay by your feet and relax and is happy to greet every person that comes around, but will get anxious walking on leash on busy streets with people running/jogging, bicycles and skateboards coming towards her. Princess Daisy needs a confident and patient owner who will continue to work with her being out and about in the big world if that is desired, HOWEVER she would be very happy to be a “house dog” and live an easy life with you in and out of the house and go for car rides which is one of her favorite things to do, and most of all, being close to her person and getting tummy rubs! Are you a person that would enjoy giving this girl a chance to have a great life? She would love to be your one and only and she will be the most loyal and loving friend you will ever have! Princess Daisy is crate-trained, house-broken, spayed, microchipped and has had all shots including rabies and is a very healthy dog.
