FRIDAY SHOUT OUTS – Giving Thanks!
We would like to thank the awesome FOUND ANIMALS FOUNDATION for their sponsorship of the cost of vaccines for our JUNE Compton Spay/Neuter Clinics. Their sponsorship is crucial to keeping pets protected and keeping our costs down and so we are really happy that they’ve stepped up and chose to sponsor our clinic.
We’re rescuing dogs, one dog at a time!!!
With YOUR help!!!
See everyone next week!!!!!

THANK YOU FRIDAYS – Memorial for PuppyMill Mama’s
To do the honors is one of our Mama Pit’s PRECIOUS still waiting for her forever home!
First a moment of silence for all the puppy mill Mama’s that never had the chance to leave the puppymill or end up euthanized at our shelters after being tossed as unprofitable by a backyard breeder.
Precious? Are we ready?
On behalf of DDR, I would like to thank Ms. Andrea Braver, premier volunteer for the South LA Shelter for always watching out for Mamma Pits like me. She has always been very sympathetic everytime a Mamma Pit who’s ready to give birth or just recently gave birth comes into the South LA Animal Care Center and we thank her for that. Many a time, the puppies get adopted out right away BUT us Mamma Pits are most of the time left behind. So Ms. Braver, thank you so much for sending pleas on our behalf, checking on us and making sure that we are comfortable and attended to.
We also want to recognize the work of Best Friends “Puppies Aren’t Products: Los Angeles.” It takes a whole team of wonderful people to run this program and spread the word about the awful puppymills and the stores that use them. Thank you to the awesome team doing the great work:
Lindsay Reeves, Sherman Oaks Team Leader
Deborah Johnson,Sherman Oaks Team Leader
Tina Clark, Glendale Team Leader
Kari Hartkorn,Brea Team Leader
Every month they hold Anti-Puppy Mill/Pro-adoption peaceful demonstrations in PuppyMill using STORES like BARKWORKS (Westside Pavilion) and PUPPY AND ME (Sherman Oaks). Please attend their peaceful demonstrations sometime soon (To volunteer, email: kimw@bestfriends.org

And we have an extra special sweetheart to do the honors —
Raising money for rescue work is a big challenge for small rescue’s like Downtown Dog Rescue. Coordinating an army of volunteers with volunteer coordinator, Sandy to help with events, errands and countless other rescue related tasks, Lori’s time is majorly impacted and thinking up ways to raise the money needed to do ALL of it is just one more thing to add to an already full plate. This is why when we get donations/support/event proceeds out of the blue, Lori and I are super elated and thankful!!!!!!!
This week we want to thank David Minkin, Nicole Bruckman, Robin Skov and Page Miller for being the wonderful rescue friendly souls they are and including DDR in their work/existing projects. Many of the events donate their proceeds to DDR. We want to do a shout out to the following folks and it will be headed by no other than our 61st street kennel success story…Mr. Larry!!!!!
Larry got adopted today and he is one of the 61st Street Kennel hoarding case that really has won a lot of DDR volunteer hearts! Here was poor Larry at an over-crowded kennel in South LA, tied to a tree 24/7….
And here is this sweet, intelligent and wonderful Larry in his new home!
Larry has finally found his home — but wait, we want to ask one final request!
Larry, are you ready to thank everyone and give them that winning happy smile you now will permanently have? LARRY SAYS YES — ok Larry – flash the smile and give the thanks!
On behalf of DDR, I would like to first thank my new family Marshall and Courtney!!!! YAY!!!!! I’ve found my forever home!
Also, I would like to thank the following people whose support of DDR, will continue to make rescue work happen for other dogs like me…. so…..
THANK YOU for involving DDR with your A MUTE OF HOUNDS EXHIBITION at MELTDOWN GALLERY! 20% of proceeds from artwork sold is really a big deal for us + setting up an adoption event at the Gallery and just really coming up with great satellite events that encourage donations […]
